Dark Brotherhood motives

Post » Sat May 01, 2010 6:45 pm

IS there anyone who figured out the motives of any of the murders given to you by Ocheva and Luciean? I've always been curious especially the people who were mudered in that party.

Anyone know the motives on these people's deaths?

The motives are for you as a player to have some sadistic fun :flamethrower:

They obviously wronged someone in the past who they shouldn't have. I think they purposely don't tell the player, so he doesn't have to have a say in it, whether it's justified or not.

Well i know at one point they wronged someone which is why I want to know why and how?

I mean 6 people : A Redgaurd, Breton, Dumner, Nord, and an Imperial of diffrent backgrounds someonehow wronged one person. I'm really curious how

Same with the Draconis family for that matter

Rufio, the old man the player was sent to murder as the initiation right to the Dark Brotherhood, had his assassination arranged by Claudius Arcadia. Apparently, Rufio was, shall we say, "Molag Bal-ing" Cladius' wife or daughter--it's never made clear--and killed her when she struggled.

My interpretation of all the motives:

Spoiler

Introduction contract:
The infamous Rufio has [censored] and killed the wife and daughter of Claudius Arcadia, who is in prison for conducting the ritual to arrange a assassination with the dark brotherhood

First contract:
Some rich merchants want him dead, because he's bad for business.

Second contract:
The nephew of Baenlin named Caenlin wanted the house for himself.

Third contract:
Your new family give you the opportunity to take revenge on Valen Dreth

Fourth contract:
This Breton has huge debts to underworld types and wants to escape the enforcers by faking his own death. He gave his mother's life for his own safety.

New contract giver

Fifth contract:
Maybe his girlfriend issued the contract, but that seems unlikely. Maybe a close friend/relative of Lorkmir who found out the truth?

Sixth contract:
A fellow warlord wants him dead, or some angry farmers who have there crops taken by Roderick's mercenaries.

Seventh contract:
I really don't know. I can't think why all six have done something bad to someone.

Eight contract:
Easy one. Adamus was investigating activities of the dark brotherhood. Know your new family wants to give him a "gift".

Ninth contract:
Clear out the sanctuary to be sure that none of the residents is the assassin among assassins.

Tenth contract:
Some mage from the mages guild found out and know a shadier person "took care" of the untransformed lich.

Eleventh contract:
The draconis family made someone very mad...

Next five contracts:
The assassin among assassins gave you this contracts, as you killed the whole black hand

The rest is obvious... I hope

I bet it had something to do with somebody wanting them dead and paying the Dark Brotherhood to do it.

This is correct.

The motives of the murder are between the contractor, the Night Mother and Sithis. Your motive is to get paid.

Ehh... I'd argue about the "Sithis" part. Sithis (Padomay) is a force of nature. Entropy, decay, the inevitable degradation of things towards chaos, where Anu reassembles them back into new things, which persist for a time, but eventually degrade and once again fall apart into chaos.

There's no need to worship Sithis. Sithis will claim its due, one way or another, your participation in the process notwithstanding. As someone in the lore forum once pointed out, worshipping Sithis is like worshipping gravity.

However, It's widely believed that the Night Mother is a manifestation of Mephala, the web-spinner. Toying with mortals and convoluting intricate schemes of intrigue, suspicion and death is her sphere. In the end, it kinda makes sense.

Edit: Spoiler tags removed, since thread was moved to spoiler forum.

It was a joke, that was also an accurate statement.
That is all you, as an assassin of the Dark Brotherhood, need to know.
