lol i got the imperial edition not going to play as one tho would rather be a dark elf or an orc cause they are badass imperials are ok tho they remind me of the roman legions and im big into the history of rome who isnt fasinated with it lol i might make an imperial alt would like to see a different start point for it tho maybe with the ability to pick ur alliance at the end of the start area threw choices u make now that would be sweet and this start area im imagining would show represintatives from all 3 alliances trying to get u to come to there side. even if ur mind was made up it would def be interesting
One of the reasons I didn't get the CE. That is the one race I am 100% sure I will never play. They're just...boring. I usually play humans in other MMOs, but there are too many good races with good supporting lore and environments in this game to do that.
I ordered from Best Buy online the imperial physical edition.
1. They are first of all, imperialists. I hate imperialism and exploitation of other cultures, I despise the monolithic "empire" seeking to ruin all other cultures to be the "One and Only". I hate the corruption involved in bureaucracy, and I hate the ethnocentric culture of empires. I view the Empire to be just as racist as everyone accuses the Nords, Elves or Dunmer of being. Empires, especially in Tamriel are generally based on displacement of others, slavery and genocide; and are maintained by similar means. Bethesda did a good job in making their Empire realistic enough to make me hate them. +2 Kudos there.
2. I also feel ESO did a terrible job of creating them all as one culture group. At this point in the lore, Colovians and Nibeans should be 2 different cultures who don't like one another. Instead, they are all "just imperials" as you would expect. It could be argued that there are 2 imperial factions in somewhat of an uneasy tension bordering on civil war.
Edit: They are just vanilla.
Normally, you give away vanilla and sell the sprinkles, nuts and chocolate. In this case, they gave all the goodies and sell the vanilla separate.
I do not loathe them... I just like every other race better than them
I mean, they are okay I guess. Just not my thing.
I preordered the CE but I play as mer only.
Why loathe Imperials? The created religion and law all provinces of Tamriel would adapt and agree on as the consensus form of order for the empire. Most of them are also model citizens and accepting of all other races which makes them the most charistmatic out of all the races. I honestly don't trust the high elves as someone who always play as an Imperial I may be biased but I feel as though the events where the moons dissapeared for the Khajits was a trick orchestrated by the high elves so they could rally the Khajit on their side. The imperials can relate so much because their people have been enslaved, And casted out by the other older races. It's little wonder that they get along so well with all the other races.
They also make up some of the best light infantry units but they're good all around at everything making them a good compromise if you want to be a jack of all trades.
I pre-ordered the Imperial edition and no real intention of playing impreials. I don't even think I will take advantage of the any race in any faction. I just bought it in case I change my mind later down the road.
I was one of the supporters for them being a playable race. For the past year, Imperials are all that I have played.
I love imperials, they're my favorite TES race, and I plan on playing one as my main.
i have never been a fan of imperials. they are the one race i do not use in the game. look at their passives though i am pretty sure i will be making one at some point now
You see, one of the reasons for me to preorder the CE was that if I ever wanted to be an Imperial, I would be able to just make one. I change my mind all the time. I mean, two years ago I loathed High Elves, and now they are my favourite race xD
I did the same, and it is only 20 bucks more -- so why not?
I don't know if Im going to roll an Imperial or not yet, depends on how they play i guess. I enjoyed the Orc last beta and was pleased. I think the Imperial edition is worth the cost of admission for the mount if nothing else...
Precisely...Who am I kidding? I did it for the mudcrab!
Do mods like encrypted text? I don't and that is exactly what I quoted was... Just a heads up for you... Yea the pets are great add ons, I just wish they would add some that could be tamed, after finding them. And give the pets the ability to kill so that they have to be dealt with not as an after thought...
I have always loathed the Imperial Race as well.
Only Imperial I ever made was in Morrowind just for fun because I wanted to play the legion quest line and wanted to do it right. Spear + Heavy Armor + Shield was quite fun ... looked just like a damn guard lol.
But other than that, ya I hate them - far too uptight and self-righteous and the whole sense of divine right to rule makes me absolutely hate them. I was a Storm Cloak for sure: Freedom > Tyranny.
Having said that, I bought the imperial digital copy just so I can play one IF I ever want to. The idea of not being able to play a race just seems too much for me... Have to have all the options you know - even if I don't play one.
EDIT: I used an imperial broadsword too with the shield. If I remember right spears were 2handed and couldn't wield a shield with them. Just saying before someone yells " YOU NEVER PLAYED MORROWIND, DIE SCUM!"
I know right? It's not like they had a choice really I mean if a daedric god came down and threatened to enslave my people if I didn't fight for him and kill everyone I knew I think I'd choose to fight against everyone as well.
I did it for the free horse... Everything is faster with a horse.
Other stuff I could honestly care less about. I might end up making an Imperial race if their Racial traits are impressive enough. Or just make one because I "can". Probably going to stick to being a Dark Elf, or maybe a Breton in the Ebonheart.
What I did like about making a Breton for my beta character was the fact I could curve his ears to resemble elven ears, This was something the other games failed to get right so I'm impressed to see it in the game, Dark Elves are my 2nd favourite race next to Imperials, They were the first race I played when I play Morrowind, I liked the racial bonuses you got in those games it made choosing your race a huge part of your progression and I can recall the Dark Elves having 40 or was it 45 strength? Either way I can recall them being on par with Imperial in strength but more proficient in magic which made them a much more superior choice in Morrowind in my opinion.
Yes, I never understood why you couldn't do it before. Or that they weren't pointed in the slightest.
They're man-mer, Men with Mer blood in their ancestry somewhere. Closest thing we'll come to half elves. Yet their physique is typically just that of a shorter Imperial. Sometimes stockier. It's weird.
