I didn't see any, and they are not an item that you can craft.
There is a Templar ability that uses a light spear.
Spear is not a weapon skill line. Some staves and maybe maces could look a little like spears I guess.
I don't get how the most straight forward and effective medieval weapons is always an afterthought in games like these. Spears are AWESOME! Is it the animations?
Just the Aedric spear. The animations for it were pretty cool. It's a skill though so only people who play as a templar will be able to use it.
I really hope they add in an an future update. The warden class from Lotro is something i'd be thrilled to see in eso, not as a class but a fighting style.
I do believe they will add it in further updates.
If you liked warden from Lotro then the Templar spear line with sword and board might excite you. I played that way on my first beta and it was really fun.
Oh I fully intend to, I just don't wan't to spoil the templar animations for me so i'm rolling other classes in the beta. Very exited if the animations are like the wardens.
The developers have responded to the spear question many times with a "maybe eventually". I feel like they have been asked so many times to add spears and arenas it is almost certain to be in an update after launch. Hopefully they add both one and two handed spears. I almost always play a ranged or caster character in RPGs but spears could convince me to make a dragon knight spartan or something, 1H spear and shield just seems really awesome.
We won't be facing waves of cavalry attacks in ESO so spears are pretty useless. The only reason spears were popular for arming expendable infantry is due to the fact that they use small amounts of metal and are cheap to manufacture.
Oh, you don't want to go down that road...
This topic was beaten to death in the Skyrim forums, and bringing up the cavalry argument only ended up killing all those horses so that they could be beaten with the butt-end of the non-existent spears.
templar spear is powerful but it looks rly dumb, my 1st char was a temp i got to lvl 11, i dropped that spear skill as soon as i could because of how dumb it looks, the javelin style skill that u throw at enemies is cool though
OH, so spears were only used against Cavalry? HOHOHO
No, just kidding, not getting into this whole thing lol.
A possible new weapon for a game update? Spears & quarter staffs?
....Spears are one of the most used weapons through a lot of history for a reason,a nd no it wasn't because of cavalry.
They are one of the best weapons, simple, quick, long range (longer then a sword, mace, axe, etc). There's a reason they were one of the most used weapon types throughout both the west and east all throughout the early/middle ages and even before.
I do recall a dev question asking about what weapons you would like to see in future updates. Pole arms being the most asked for IIRC.
Just adding my 2 cents. Really want to see the return of spears, and the more we talk about it, the better chance the devs will see this is something we want
Stiler is correct, the spear saw massive use throughout history. Part of this was simply due to how cheap they are to make. You technically don't even need any metals and can make them completely out of wood. Beyond that, their range and quick speed (compare a thrust attack to swinging a heavy 2h maul/axe) made them ideal over most weapon types.
In many ways, the sword which replaced the spear, is simply a spear itself, just with the handle greatly shortened for easier movement/swings.
Plus, I can't make my medium armor spear-using Argonian until they add them
Spears should never have been take away from ES games in the first place.
Its time to bring them back!
