because they didn't want to spoil anything for when the game goes live?
I have admittedly used this strategy during every beta. Spamming through the dialog advances one quicker as well as potentially revealing bugs with dialog completion and quests when you do that.
Time is precious during testing. I play very slowly, normally and get enveloped in the character and their story.
I didn't until I realized I liked the game...then I started to.
I skipped quest dialog. But only because the combat was so boring during the first 10 levels so I just wanted to power level through them.
I did, because I will probably play most (if not all) my characters on the AD and I couldn't resist the opportunity to see Auridon during the beta.
I did just to hurry my time because I only had a weekend to injest as much of the game as I could.
After I had spent enough time questing to form an opinion on the story and quests (which was that they are for the most part immersive, interesting, and well-executed), I adopted a "la la la, I can't hear you" approach to questing. I actually stopped questing after a while and dedicated my time to exploration and crafting, so as not to spoil the story before launch.
Yep, I played a faction I have no intention of playing so I could get an idea for what its like and actually wont be playing the faction I want to until launch but even then I didn't read the story so I could play that faction later if I want. I'm done with ruining games for myself with beta and early access
I tried not to, but then I kind of got into it. I'll enjoy it the second time round though because I'll be going through it with other people.
I did.. but only because I want to save that experience for launch.
No i actually read them so when the game starts that parts already done
Hell no, it's only the first 15 levels out of 50 and i wanted to get a grasp on how good the writing and voice acting was.
And i'm glad i did beacuse otherwise i'd be playing EP and the quests there don't even come close to the quality of AD or DC quests(even if this plot gets abit...ridiculeous) for atleast the first few zones.
Not most of it. Which came in handy since I noted several instances of quest-giver spoken dialogue not matching the text. I'm going to guess they were in the process of changing the quest around, and updated the spoken dialogue, but hadn't fixed the text yet. I'm working more with the factions that aren't my "favorite", so I won't be all that spoiled when I actually play.
Not really. For one, it was part of evaluating the content. Secondly, it was part of bug testing. Sometimes the text didn't coincide with the speech. Those instances (and typos and such) needed to be reported. Content was only to level 17 so spoiling it was not as much of a concern.
Yeah I skipped through a lot just to try and ignore it so seems relatively new when release hits.
I also skipped a lot of quests in the first area after the starting areas and just roamed the map a bit instead.
Nah, because like someone else said earlier we're suppose to find bugs in all aspect of the game, including the dialogues. I certainly found a few bugs with it as well. The game isn't meant to be a demo after all, so to skip it hurts the whole purpose of doing beta in the first place and thus hurts the product you love.
I did a mix of both. I wanted to get on with the playing during beta, as others have stated. When the game comes out, I want to take my time and work through them.
I played the Wow beta for years before it came out, and when it finally did come out, I felt a little bit of chagrin at already having worked through many of the quests and areas and needing to do it all again. I do not want that experience here.
By the time I got it, I was more of a stress test minion. I think my attitude would have been different if I was one of those with multiple beta tests.
The few bugs I did come across have already been reported a ton of times.
Yep I listen to just enough to see that the voice acting was working and skipped after that. Partly to try and bug it and partly didn't ant to spoil it for me later.
