Huh? The link clearly specifies explorer pack won't be available.

During this period it seems men atleast imperials will be hated on alot in the whole of the dominion since cyrodiilians seem to be warring all over the dominion except on summurset.
So when he says "guarantee" he really means I'm just throwing out a guess? Or is there a source saying it will be an option?
Yes. The explorer's pack, which contains the ability to unlock any race/any faction, the mudcrab pet, and the treasure maps, won't be available after launch. There is nothing to give any indication that the ability to unlock any race/any faction won't be available for purchase after launch. In fact, there is every reason to think it will be, since features like that are exactly what Zenimax has gone on record as saying that is what the game shop is made for.
I agree like totally.
Fighting alongside Americans who are from Middle-Eastern descent totally ruined the immersion of the Afghan war. Ask anyone who was there.
I agree with this. I also think it only right. Imagine joining ESO after launch and finding out you were locked out of a major choice like playing any race on any faction. I don't think that limitation would be good for the morale of new players.
Elder Scrolls is based off of being any race. I don't see the problem. The developers are meeting halfway for everyone.
I think they should make "any race any faction" playable option (explorer pack). It is mostly because "any race" breakes game setup - the races should be separated, so I really do not see a reason to choose differently then planned, but I know there are cases.
I know it is difficult topis but there are two options:
- make it for free for all, so there will be completly no race separation and every alliance will have equal numbers of races or even worst there will be more Nords fighting for AD, that would be really strange
- diable it completely, but it qould be against the lore and against some people needs, plus same exotic races would just be nice to see around.
So pay for the priviledge looks reasonable to me, but I just can imagine wees going on but whatever.
At first, you will see some oddballs.
After a while, not so many.
Maybe, in two or three years, there would be close to none and the "preorder accounts" will be worth small fortunes on e-bay.
There always were members of other races on "enemy" territory on TES games. If anything, allowing a very specific group of players to create these oddballs is lore-friendly, specially since the number of active accounts that can create any race on any faction will get progressively smaller with time.
Also, the tutorial supports this. You are supposed to be teleported to a random place in Tamriel, but what a coincidence! You were teleported to a territory that your race owns! What are the odds? xD
I mean, what stops you from finding your toes buried in the snow instead of in warm sands?
Aldmeri Dominion do NOT hate humans.
They just see them as children and not as wise.
It's by no means a stretch to see some humans living within their area and growing up to believe like the AD and think they are looking out for hte best interest of the kingdom.
when i was in the beta i saw other races in EP allready as NPC's
They'd still have the option to play Imperial (can join any faction).
Pretty sure new player's feelings would be okay. Other MMO's have locked factions, so Imperial alone would be significantly more freedom already.
Not sure if it has been said but you do realize at lvl 50 any player can and will go do quests in the other faction PvE zones, right?
It's just a matter of time before all races are seen in all zones.
but it is not like you think - the 50+ zones will be just empty versions - no low level players there and only NPC and high level players can be seen.
The 50+ and 50++ zones are supposed to be phased off from the normal, so you'll still only see people from your own faction there. I'm guess what 50+ is for one faction is 50++ for the other and vice versa.
True, IF phasing doesn't "hide" the players that are playing the 50+ and 50++ content from "home players".
Although that is still going to be a bit odd, no? All of the Ebonheart Pact is strolling around Aldmeri homelands and no other Altmer/Bosmer to be seen except for the occasional NPC? Not that I mind, I think it is neat and adds a ton to the gameworld by being able to go to the other places. But it seems either way is going to end up feeling odd.
Considering that my second MMO of choice is Everquest 2, a game in which I can take the all evil Teir'dal(dark elves) and make a Paladin out of them with an annoying long quest chain and reputation grind, any race on any faction doesn't bother me in the slightest, even if they keep it at launch.
I would have enjoyed a betrayal quest line though like EQ2 has. And I preferred the old quest they had before they did the whole character advancement revamp. Started my dark elf paladin as a fighter, then a crusader, and before she could become a shadowknight, I did betrayal to become a Paladin instead.
I think it will thin out over time. It is unrealistic to think that everyone who pre-ordered the game will end up playing it forever. My fear is that they will sell the feature after the game has launched. Then, it will have ruined immersion.
omg seriously this dead horse AGAIN???
listen EVERY MILITARY OUTFIT IN THE WORLD including the IMPERIAL army of TAMRIEL had members in its ranks from EVERY RACE AND EVERY WALK OF LIFE in it, why is this even being brought up still? NO it will not break immersion in the least it is perfectly normal, think of it this way, I spent 10 dollars more than you so that I could join the imperial army of tamriel... nuff sedd
