Gaming PC just cost too much.

17” laptop from 2010 here (Asus ROG) so nothing spectacular.
- 2nd gen Core i7
- ATI 5870
- 12GB DDR3

Most games still run with high settings (except a few like the witcher 2 or skyrim with graphics mods). Been saving for a while now and planning to upgrade around next January. It's interesting to see how many people go with Nvidia cards though. I mean I know they rule the market nowadays and I used to be an all time Nvidia customer until I jumped to ATI 4 years ago. Never going back to Nvidia as long as ATI exists.

Anyway, not going to comment too much to avoid GFX cards war

In a way yes, some things better on Xbox than PC but not hardware, however Xbox One is good.

Can (barely) run it on this MacBook Pro, at bare-bones settings.

Well, there's a reason consoles are for gaming, it's because they have a gaming OS, and the interface is solely for gamers. With a bit of movies and music thrown in, but ye that's something that no PC really has unless you have steam OS (ughhhhhh)
