Add guns into the elder scrolls?

Post » Wed Feb 19, 2014 1:56 am

Nope, I open UESP up just to look it over again, nope. They have spikes that create the illusion of being crossbow contraption, but both types of Spheres have them. And the other one propels its sword out of its hand if you engage it. So that means, these constructs have a mechanism capable of propelling stuff other than bow. That can be considered a gun.

IMO fantasy style guns would work. Some "conservative" people here often reject the idea of guns as if those, who advocate for guns, want AK-47's in the game. -.-

A fantasy gun could be just an alternative to staff built for those who don't have magical affinity. That is the same reason I hated Skyrim staves. Staves do not shoot fireballs like rifles. They only amplify caster's spells.

I would give my left ear for throwing weapons and spears.

We already have staves and wands, which function like guns since Oblivion. Point, shoot, and reload with filled soul gems.

I can totally see a wizard in a wide brimmed hat wield two wands akimbo style.

The creation of a blunderbuss or something was theoretically within the technological capabilities of the Dwemer, considering how they were with Tribunal's explosive charges, their ability to create automatons, and so forth, and I don't see why they couldn't have eventually created a single-shot, close range weapon like that, had they not disappeared.

However, the Dwemer are gone and very little understanding - if there is any at all - of their technology exists amongst the other races, who all remain far behind the Dwemer in terms of technology. This means that firearms are unlikely to happen in modern times, and even if they did, I am not - and never have been - a fan of long rifles, blunderbusses and what have you in other fantasy games. To me, the use of such relatively modern technology in times of knights, kings and queens, and magic just doesn't feel like it's "right", to put it lamely, especially since the civilisation styles portrayed are hundreds of years before the firearm.

It would be a weird addition after so many games with no guns. But never say never with Todd Howard, I mean who could have seen the cinematic killcams coming?

If anybody developed some kind of gun, I'd guess that it would be the Redguards. Not only are they near enough to the ruins of the Dwarves of Volenfell to see what they were doing, but their dislike for magic would give them a reason to look for something they could use that was non-magical but long ranged.

I could see matchlock or flintlock guns if they were very rare, it takes a master alchemist to prepare the gunpowder, powder becomes useless in the rain and even when dry there's a chance of flash in the pan failure.

As a side note wet weather and high humidity should hamper bow and crossbow effectiveness.

its a possibility, as we know cannons exist, so Gun Powder must as well..

still though, I hope they don't add them.. if I want guns I'll go play something else...

I can honestly say I've never said "Hey, you know what TES needs? Guns." I mean if it's something you really want you can always get TES for PC where some very creative modders already do what your asking for. Would I mind if they were introduced? Yes and no, part of me is like why not the other half feels like they just don't fit in TES.

What I'm wondering is how we could balance out guns vs bows and crowsbows.
