Better Bodies vs. Smooth Bodies

Post » Wed Feb 19, 2014 1:19 am

While looking through MMH is found this http://mw.modhistory.com/download-51-6948. It seems to be designed for an old body mesh, the "smoother body" or somthing like this. I have read that "smoother bodies" were slowly replaced by "better bodies" and now most of the armors are made fit for these.

To get the armor ingame I must solve a quest, so it takes some time to check what will happen if I put it on a "better body". Maybe someone has experiance with that and could tell me what I might expect?

IIRC, that armor just pieces together like the vanilla armor... I think there's a different version for every race like the old armor and clothing mods for the vanilla bodies which had skin showing. That being said, if you equip it while using BB, you'll see exactly what you see in that screenshot on MMH. You can confirm or refute this by looking at the NIFs themselves.

edit: to clarify: if you equip that armor, you will see the old body style in the screenshot, the BB will be covered up.

All clothing which were made for the older body, are all compatible with BB. That includes stuff from province mods such as TR and vanilla clothing.

You don't have to wait for the quest, just use the console to spawn the new armor to your character's inventory, try it on, if it looks OK, then reload and play the quest. You can find the ID for the armors in the Editor, just load the file and look for the new ones.

I suspect what he means is

[And, this is what I would do] --

a) Use the Morrowind Construction Set to open that mod, as the "Active" mod. [Anything that mod adds will then have an "asterisk" attached in the CS].

But, also load up "Better Bodies," along with MW, Trib, Bloodmoon, or whatever else that mod requires/is dependent on;

b - Pick a cell like "Todds Test" or something, and put copies of the two "Shady Smuggler" NPCs into it.

c) Go find them in that cell, in the Render Window, and equip them with your new armor (one is male, the other female, so you can see what it will look like on both, provided it has both male and female versions).

Since you already have "Better Bodies" loaded in addition, you can see what the armor would look like on a BB NPC or Character.

d) Obviously, DON'T SAVE the mod .esp after all this manipulation. Better yet, do your investigation on a copy. Then you can do the quest you mentioned to actually get the armor, once you are satisfied it will work for you.
