My thoughts...

Post » Wed Feb 19, 2014 12:04 pm

So someone tells me there's a TES MMO coming out that doesn't require a sub. My heart stops. I sign up for beta and get an email for beta test :D. I can hardly contain myself. I start the download and patiently wait 4 days for it to finish giddy with excitement. Today it finishes and completes installing. I'm about to faint. I try to login but it says that my info is incorrect, then I see below "beta access currently not available". Bummer, but I'll live. I poke around support to make sure my account is ok since it says that my login information is incorrect and I find this:

Ultimate sad face :(. Heart sinks to the floor. Cries for 10 minutes. Grudgingly uninstalls ESO without even trying it :(

I played the beta on my brother's account since I didn't even sign up, I was thinking it was just another MMO with a different paint job and I was skeptical it would even keep my interest. The game is amazing and worth a sub, you should give it a shot

I'd say the game is worth 50 cents a day. People spend much more in the cash shops of the so called free-to-play games.

so your sad it wont be p2w with a cash shop? 14.99 is nothing to spend on something you'll play this much.

I'd happily pay the sub fee. My only issue is that my future financial situation is a little..strained..at the moment. I'm good for the first month or two, but after that I'll probably have to do some prioritizing until things settle down. :(

I am skeptical that the OP didn't know. Smells like yet another tired attempt to start a 'bash the sub' thread.

I'm killing time waiting for ESO by playing Defiance, which is the first MMO I've ever played. I couldn't imagine a worse experience, in the form of problems that either never get fixed, or taking forever to, a tone-deaf dev team that seems to deliberately ignore player's desires, and servers that seem to be run by hamster wheels. And that's not even mentioning the horribly-offensive character 'names' in use, a chat frequently filled by vulgar garbage, as well as rampant griefing and cheating that goes completely ignored by Trion.

If paying a monthly fee gives me a smooth experience virtually free of that, and screens out at least some drive-by trash who seem to derive all pleasure from harassing others, I'll be happy to pay. I'm speaking as an advlt casual player, though. Your mileage may vary.

This. The way the story is told doesn't sound genuine.

I don't understand your mindset. You have hearsay that says the game won't have a sub and are disappointed that it's not true. Did you expect to play for free? I hope you can afford to miss two fast food dinners per month in order to play. Or as others have said, two quarters a day. That's one soda can less per day.

Since playing in beta, no other games are keeping my interest. And I know I'm not alone. That is worth paying for, in my opinion. I hope you enjoy whatever other game(s) you end up playing, though.

Out of curiosity, what was you intention when starting this thread?

I am sorry that you judge a game based on the sub model? Your loss I guess.

I'm sure that less people would complain about a sub, if you could purchase it with food stamps.
