How will the rings of Mara work?

Post » Wed Feb 19, 2014 12:03 pm

I've preordered the Imperial edition, so understand I'll be eligiable for this experience boosting item.

However none of my core friends are getting Imperial. Does that mean I'll never get to use my Mara Blessing XP Bonus?

Or can I just do the vow with a random player, and get my XP that way? Or do you always have to be grouped together?

IS the blessing only for your 1st character, or all alts?

Now I could be wrong and I hope I am wrong but it only takes one person needed to have those "rings"...

But if I am wrong ... I am in deep deep trouble my self also..

Wish they allowed me to marry myself. Would work so much better. Had a ton of other things I was going to say about marital duties but that would likely get me banned.

They need to allow those of us who plan on playing solo the majority of the time to somehow get the benefit of the ring even if its reduced by half. They do say your wife is your better half (glad I divorced and have nothing to do with that half).

I believe the company is smart enough to notice the semantic difference between RING and RINGS - and I think that this means when ONE person buys the IE, you will get TWO rings

That being said, I believe you can find the mara rings in game, so your friends can all get the boost

I imagine you can only get married once (lest you can divorce idk) so make sure you pick the player that plays the most (because you ONLY get the bonus while playing at the same time)

i played mmo's for quite a few years and there is allways really good friendships made and meet people that become close to you alot more then just "random" the memories you build and friendships will be with you a lifetime.

you will no-doubt meet special ones who you will want to mary.

Sorry I don't know OP but I was wondering if the rings are a one time use... Like for alts or if your friend quit and you forgot about the ring he had...hmmmm

I don't know about Marry, but definitely friends 100% - but I'll meet them during the course of the game, not at the start/levelling period - which is of course when I'd want to be using the bonus.

I presume it's similar to the Vamp/WWolf type mechanics. You probably only have 1 active .. but can "re-apply" the effects to another person.

I can see this being potentially awkward if divorce is available.

"Yeah... Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm going to need that ring back. It's not you, it's me. My schedule's been so hectic lately, and Alea is available to play more often than you are, so... I mean, it just makes sense that we should get married. We can still group together when you're around."

That kind of svcks, sounds like they're just a one time use thing unless you're careful and save the rings. Would svck if your friend quit or accidentally deleted/sold the ring because then they'll be useless.

I think they should be awarded to each character made on the account like all other MMOs do with collector edition stuff....not just to an account on a single character.

Oh... if there would be "Divorce" option it would create drama..

After being through RL divorce I can tell you that there is really no drama in that ... hole thing is "overrated." And had to wait 6 months before divorce was official..

Ah that's more than I knew before. Thanks for linking! I suppose I'll have a couple days to investigate, what with my early, early access... .

just to NOTE: its allways been my motto: keep whats ingame -ingame and keep whats in real life - in real life:

the people you get close to ingame should stay that way for obvious reasons.

altho i have seen people end up getting married and friendships in real life who met in a mmo. i just dont suggest it

If I get the Rings of Mara from the Imperial Edition, does the friend I decide to perform the ceremony with also need to have purchased the Imperial Edition in order for us both to get the bonus?

Only one copy of the Imperial Edition is required. When you purchase the Imperial Edition, you receive the Pledge of Mara. This is the item you use to get the Rings of Mara. Only one Pledge of Mara is required—both people do not need to have it.

The pledge can be equipped for use. Two characters can approach a Shrine of Mara within the game. While standing on sacred ground, the character with the pledge can target the character without and then use the pledge to evoke the Ritual of Mara. Both characters must agree to share this commitment. Upon acceptance, a celebration occurs and the rings are placed in each character’s inventory. The rings are marked with the name of the matching character. While wearing the ring and adventuring with the corresponding partner, both characters will receive a bonus to their experience. This bonus stacks with others.

Each pledge can only be used once. The names on the rings cannot be changed. This union is forever.

Yes I know, if you read the topic, you'd see a linked the Q and A and pasted the relevant answer in .

Just thought I'd put the answer directly here for anyone that had an interest in this topic but didn't read the QnA's :D.
