ESO Player Housing
This is an idea I got for player housing in ESO. That I like to share and hope you all like and maybe can be seen by the developers.
I do think a real Elder Scrolls game definitely needs housing as it has been so ever since Daggerfall.
And is the most expensive thing you always have been able to save gold for or build yourself, it also give players a
goal in the world others than slay monsters and craft equipment.
How it was done in Skyrim Hearthfire were really great, but do not 100% match into a MMO. world.
So my idea is a mixture of Hearthfire that match into a MMO. and alsos give you a vary of options.
1: How will it work.
Players will be able to chose between 3-5 locations in every major town to buy a house, each house vary in prise and
size so there is something for everyone at any level. Player can however only own one house in the town and has to
abandon the old one to buy a new and larger one.
Each house will work as an instance so every player can own their own house in town. To prevent that 100 players
stand outside the same house in town there also need to be more locations to buy houses so people are spread out
in the town and get to be a part of the crowd and blend in, as in an TES game.
When a player buy a house they will have to give it a name (A unique house ID) like houses have names in Skyrim.
When a player then go to a house and use the door you get two options. 1: you can enter your own house. Or 2: you
can type in the name of another players house and enter their house if they are home.
This way you can show of your house to everyone else or gather parties at home in front of the fireplace.
And others houses are ONLY available to enter if the owner is home so you can visit others.
2: House Options.
So now you have the house. An empty house without furniture that need to be build or bought.
Depending on the size of the house you own there are a numbers of rooms that you can customize just like in Skyrim
Hearthfire. You can purchase a vary of room types like Armoury, Kitchen, Trophy Room, Alchemy Laboratory,
Greenhouse, Enchanter's Room, Or Storage Room with access to your bank etc.
All the rooms can be bought or crafted if you have the skill for it. Also crafted rooms can be sold to others as any
other items in the game. So it opens up a new market for housing.
All room types can never be owned at the same time as there simply aren′t space for it in the same house. So players
will have to choose what they need the most and what they use for crafting. Styles of the furniture's and room vary
depending on your race or what type of crafted rooms you buy. So even if you have a house in Daggerfall you can
furnish it with your own race style.
3: Benefits.
So what are the benefits from having a house others than people knowing you used a silly amount of gold and to
show off. The house itself when you first buy it only have a fireplace and a bed. If you stay in the house for let's say
5min. you gain a comfortable buff that slightly buff your magic, health and stamina regenerate out of combat for like
an hour or two. Maybe let a players choose a partner like with the Mara rings. But without the xp buff. And if both
are home in the house the comfortable buff increase a little for both players.
Also each room you buy benefits you in some way. Like armoury room let you craft metal work like weapons and
armours, Storage Room gives access to your bank, Greenhouse give you a few plants every day, etc.
Maybe in the long run people will be able to take home some of the special crafting set recipe to their home so that
people in town know that if THIS player is home we can get this done here. And maybe the player even can be able
to set up their own little shop at home with their items only, so visitors can see what they have and maybe buy.
This was my idea for housing in ESO. Hope people likes it and maybe the developers will see it and think about it.
