Why they won't release Fallout 4 info:

Post » Fri Feb 21, 2014 2:10 am

They are waiting to see how well the Elder Scrolls online does to decide if they want to make Fallout 4 an mmo or not - Regardless, I believe a coop would be an amazing addition to Fallout 4, playing with a handful of friends in the Fallout universe would be fun.

Who says that they're actually gonna do another fallout? If we go by their usual release time (5 years) then fallout 4 should of been released back in 2012. I think they're gonna hand fallout 4 over to obsidian.

In 2008, Bethesda's http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pete_Hines said: "The whole reason we went out and acquired the license and that we now own Fallout is that we clearly intended to make more than one." He also added: "This is not something we're going to do once and then go away and never do it again. When that will be or how long that will be God only knows, but we acquired it specifically because we wanted to own it and develop it and work on it like we do withThe Elder Scrolls."http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4#cite_note-3

They are not ready to do so yet, and it has nothing to do on how well TESO does.

Everyone and there dogmeat is saying the same thing about Bethesda holding back because of TESO which admittedly seems likely but people forget that TESO has a staggered release as the pc version comes out on the 4th of April while the next gen versions are about a month or two later so we've go a while to wait to see if this hypothesis bores any fruit.

But it's also dangerous to pin to many hopes on this hypothesis as it could quite easily just be coincidence and Bethesda may hold of for far longer than the TESO release.

Basically get excited for nothing until Bethesda says so :stare:

Edit:

The backfires of skimming through threads...looks like i've got the wrong end of the stick, Todd Howard has said many times that BGS don't make multiplayer games it's hard to see him going back on that.

I don't see why ESO would have any impact on a future Fallout game.

And I doubt it would be a MMO regardless. Bethesda Game Studios doesn't seem to be interested in that genre. Zenimax Online is making ESO, which is a different studio than where TES/Fallout lives.

And as the parent publisher, I doubt Bethesda Softworks would want two MMOs at once (or even a few years apart) as the games would have to compete for players.

Your the one with the theory, so the burden of proof is on you, not anyone else.

I highly doubt it. If anything they may be holding info back to see if they need to use it as a crutch if ESO flops, but not likely to make an MMO. BethesdaGS does not do multiplayer and they aren't about to start delving into territory they don't know how to do.

Morrowind in 2002

Oblivion in 2006 (4 years later)
Fallout 3 in 2008 (2 years later)
Skyrim in 2011 (3 years later)

Where are you getting the 5 year cycle from? By your fantastical timeline, Bethesda's next release in 2012 would be 1 year later, which is way too soon given their previous game in late 2011.

That's true, looking at The Evil Within, Wolfenstein, Fallouts, and previous Scrolls games, they are all single player. Do you agree that coop Fallout would be fun though? You wouldn't HAVE to play with friends but you could. Construct a fort to camp out in and store items, defend or attack with your AI followers and your friends, go through campaign, explore. There are just so many possibilities. There's no burden Echonite.

Not to encourage a "multiplayer" train wreck of an argument...

I do agree some sort of co-op would be fun, but that is beyond the stretch of this topic.
