My laptop can run Oblivion on medium settings.... given that Doom 3 was a prior gen game, could I run it on max?

probably, Doom3 is not as graphically intense as oblivion. Doom3 has a noticably lower polycount.

Not likely. Doom 3's max settings are intensive even for modern hardware.

And Doom 3 is only two years older than oblivion.

settings and FPS :
1024x768 screen resolution with everything disabled.
average FPS was 30 but it drops to 10 FPS or something alot causing the game to lag , but i think its playable.

specs:
core i3 370m @ 2,44 ghz
4 gb of ram
intel HD graphics
320gb HDD
