Whats the graphics difference between Xbox One and the 360?

Post » Fri Feb 21, 2014 12:49 am

Is the Xbox One supposed to have better graphics?? I'm assuming it is but haven't really been able to tell from online videos and whatnot.

Most games on the Xbox One are just the same as the 360 versions, just higher screen resolution and textures, perhaps further draw distance. Some games being made from scratch to be on the One and PS4 will make better usage of the hardware. MGS5 for example...., NBA 2k is another where there is a huge graphical difference between last gen and next gen.

The XBox One's graphics hardware is vastly superior to the 360's hardware, but it's going to take some time before you start seeing new games that are capable of using the One's hardware to its fullest.

you may also be having a hard time telling the difference because of the quality of the videos rendering themselves, which are very likely to be considerably lower quality than if you were witnessing it first hand.

I've been meaning to ask this but what is the 360's framerate and what is the Xbox One framerate?

oh then what's the most general number if there is one? like say five games on 360 2 run at 40 and three run at 30 then the 360 can run games comfortably at 30 if this is right.

XBOX 360 GPU: 500 MHz ATi custom Radeon X1800 DirectX 9.0c based GPU codenamed "Xenos"

XBOX 1 GPU: 853 MHz AMD Radeon HD 7000 series DirectX 11.1 based GPU codenamed "Durango" - similar to the (entry-level) Bonaire GPU in the Radeon HD 7790

XBOX 360 CPU: 3.2 GHz IBM PowerPC tri-core CPU codenamed "Xenon"

XBOX 1 CPU: 1.6 GHz AMD x86-64 eight-core CPU codenamed "Jaguar" (2 x 4 cores actually) (6 cores are used for gaming performance - 2 cores of the operating system) (From the 6 cores 15% is used for Kinect)

Todays specs the XBOX 1 can handle games at 30 and 60 fps. (up to 1920x1080, but not all games will running at FullHD and 60 fps.)

-----------

And as Gator Country and Freddo say.

You forgot one of the most inportant specs....RAM.

8 gigs for the One conpared to 512 megabytes for the 360. I believe 3 gigs is reserved for the OS on the Xbox One, but thats still a huge difference.

He, He i don't mentioned the ram becaise the OP say only " graphics difference between Xbox One and the 360?"

-----------

XBOX 360: 512 (propably unified) MB of GDDR3 RAM @ 700 MHz 22.4 GB/s, 10 MB EDRAM GPU frame buffer memory

XBOX 1: 8 GB of DDR3 RAM @ 2133 MHz 68.3 GB/s - 32 MB ESRAM GPU frame buffer memory. (About 102GB/sec in each direction, for a total of 204GB/sec of bandwidth)

(3GB of Xbox One's RAM is also said to be reserved for system resources, including apps and the console's three operating systems, leaving 5GB for other processes.)

Probably four to five years, even. They are still unlocking the full potential of the PS2, iirc.

That depends entirely on what a studio does with its game. The XO can run 1920x1080@60fps, but this doesn't mean a studio's willing to do it.

I'm pretty sure Sony's making it a demand on studios as a marketing gimmick.

Truth of the matter is: you won't tell a difference between 720p@60fps and 900p@60fps, which is pretty much were most games are.

Pushing 1920x1080@60fps is a pointless waste of power.

There is a vast difference in quality between a game at 720p and 1080p.
