Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me. No more.
I was thinking of a different 4 letter word.
Fact is love=pain, it can fill your heart with the most amazing feeling or tear it out....from my experience you can't have one without the other.
When the welfare of the other person is more important than your own, when you take care of someone because you want to not because you feel obligated, when your first thought is what can you do for them, not what can they do for you, then your feeling love.
All the other stuff is pheromone induced lust. Which is a lot of fun, but it's not love.
That's a loving loyalty and devotion but not the full extent of "love". Do you honestly believe that the feeling of falling in love with someone is merely pheromone induced lust? What if it's deeper then that and you just love to see them smile without feeling anything in your loins?
That day last week? Tuesday? Tuesday's are okay.
Sorry.
Okay, so love. Love is a state that you are in when you say that you are. Remaining in that state is a function of how well you remind yourself. If you 'fall out' of that state it is because you have stopped reminding yourself and abandoned your word. At that point the former object of your love will become incredibly annoying, despite the fact that they are in reality no different than they were before.
Yep, when you enter a relationship with someone you're basically accepting the fact that your life is about to become a roller coaster, when it's bad it really svcks, but when it's good it's the best thing in the world. For me it's hard to gain motivation to move forward in life without having that special someone to go on that journey with you. Everyone is different though, there are plenty of people who get by on the single life just fine and wouldn't want it any other way, and that's ok because that's their thing, and to be honest there are days where I envy those people But in the end, having someone to love and knowing they love you back is what keeps me going.
It's a word that signifies you're dealing with a terrible writer of fiction.
Math is the most evil and vile monster, it tortures my soul and I utterly despise it.
Oh, love? It feels like a fat hairy mans back.
You can't explain love, man. To me it's a tight feeling you get in your chest, you can't stop thinking about that one person, and when you do your heart flutters. You want to protect that person no matter what, and you want to spend the rest of your life with him/her.
Love is nice, but also cumbersome.
Greater love has no man than this, that someone lay down his life for his friend.
I can tell you it is not what Hollywood tells you. CCNA is mostly correct.
Love is an overused word, as there are many facets to it that don't always mean the same thing. So my take is that love is what you make of it.
I like CCNA's definition, but I can be like for people that I don't feel (romantic) love for, but that's just me. I put others before me.
I have to admit though.... I almost did what Schnakers did.
Pheromones comes first yes, it is natures way of matching us up with our genetic match. However, unless the cloud surrounds someone you want to take care of and be with outside the bedroom, the relationship will not go the distance. If your spending time with someone just to get them in the sack later your being with them for selfish reasons. If your spending time with them because you want to be with them, then six is a celebration of being with them, not the goal.
We have all dated that person that drove us nuts in the beginning, but a few months later wondered what the heck we ever saw in them. Yes, these are fun relationships, but they are not relationships based on love, just lust.
1. I sense a bachelor
2. Caring for someone more than you care for yourself
3. Like you're connected and incomplete without them
4. Yes, my feelings of love towards my girl friend is a different kind of love then the love towards my brother
5. Indescribable
6. Life without love is not life
7. No
8. Yes
9. Not naturally though you can make it so
10. Yes
love is greed.
it is always taken for granted when it is possessed, but never completely fills the void of hunger.
When we love food we can gorge ourselves to the point of gluttony and afterwards we feel regret.
when we love a man or a woman it eventually fades into a life of reluctant compromises to keep what we think we want but what has really become an expense.
When you love a place it changes because you can not control it and it becomes something else and all you can think of is how much better things used to be.
when you love an ideal you realize how much better it can be once you have it.
There is nothing pure or perfect in the universe, and when you truly love something you can only appreciate it when you don't have it because you are ignorant and deluded. Once you have what you love you know that it is flawed and empty and try to fill it with more.
I think love is more like a poison, it taste sweet and benefits some but bitter and deadly to others.
Love is weakness embellished by all humans, and a neccessary part of our lives.
I hear you but I've come to regret feeling love and wish I never cared at all....single was so much more simple and the way I put loved ones first has hurt me more then I can describe.
You just need to find the right girl to kiss all the boo-boos away
ha I know that physical pheromone sort that people confuse with love and I know all too well the truest test of love is loyalty and devotion...it's only when you're willing to sacrifice yourself every day to another that you understand the truest form of love imo. Dying for someone is easy, living for them is the true test.
This thread really highlights the cynicism on this board.
