I searched the forums and couldn't find info on this.

I want to do an RP as a non-Dragonborn, not using shouts. I have 8 unsuccessful attempts.

One of my obstacles is that I cannot continue the Civil War or the Main quest or Dragonborn dlc without being Dragonborn.

Secondly, I cannot seem to ignore the word walls, or don't know how to rp them? Every time I've tried, I cannot explain them away.

Also does anyone know which race would make the best non-Dragonborn? I've tried every race but Argonian ...

If anyone has any ideas, especially concerning the word wall I would appreciate hearing about them. tyia

First off, download Skyrim Unbound. Then, uncheck anything related to dragon shouts. You're welcome.

Or just RP that you helped save a city from a dragon, it caught fire and you reported back to the Jarl. Pretend there is no go see the grey beards in your quest log, avoid word walls and don't ever shout.

All my non-dragonborn characters do this. Unless they took no part in the civil war or wanted Breezehome. Then I just never look into the rumors of Helgen from the LAL mod.

My non-Dragonborn characters don't touch the main quest. That means no dragons, of course, but if you really want dragons in your game without the main quest, there are mods for that.

Since I don't start the main quest, I never get any dragon souls to unlock shouts with. I either RP that everyone can hear the chanting and see the glowing words of word walls, or ignore it completely. The word walls will btw not be guarded by dragons if you haven't started the main quest, but by trolls, hagravens, ice wraiths, hostile necromancers and other enemies.

I also use Live Another Life and either ignore Helgen, or I go so far as to report to the Jarl, but then I leave before Farengar has given me his mission. The Jarl will be standing by Farengar's desk for the rest of the game, lol, but you can still trade with Farengar.

LAL will allow you to pick a start instead of always being at Helgen. And unless you go to Helgen or follow the LAL quest to trigger the MQ then your fine.

However it still does not prevent you from having to help Balgruuf if your doing the civil war. Unfortunately those two quests are tied together.

Keep in mind any mods you install that prevent dragon soul/word wall stuff will not just effect the character you desire, but every one of your characters.
