It would make sense to make mounts race relevant. My Bosmer won't be riding a horse, so I'll be selling the thing, or eating it.

I just realized, screw that! We'll have cliffracers! The only faction in the game with flying mounts, being able to ninja White Gold Tower without even touching Cyrodilic soil!
...Okay I want there to be unicorn mounts now, but I want them to be badass unicorns. Half again the size of a horse, glowing ayes, and in full armor. You know, because Unicorns get a really bad rap, this could fix that.
I personally would prefer a wide variety of horses, but nothing else as horses. Some bardings or armor for horses are wellcome. But please no raptors, no squirrels, no bunnys. no tortoises, no bears, no rideable vermin like spiders or bugs and so on.
guars horses tigers etc I dont mind as long as it stays within lore but as soon as we start breaking lore then I will have an issue probably. aka no flying mounts hopefully
Silt Striders don't make sense for mounts they are way too large to be used as one they are about as tall as siege towers.
Guar considering the size i saw them in ESO i doubt they will be a mount.
In time I wouldn't be surprised if some obscure Dunmer unearths some Dwemer "walking machine" to be read as vehicular transport, to be expected since they had a very advanced steam technology, especially if they need to cater to certain player groups.
Another thing that wouldn't surprise me would be "war chariots", In skyrim you had normal horse and carriage so it wouldn't be that far fetched....there's the wheel and the horse and a lot of warring...put that all together and add some blades on the wheels you have something that actually would make sense in the long run.
But personally I would be put off by anything other than a horse, don't know why but for me horses would be enough more so when the story telling takes place before the other TES games...if there was something like what I mentioned above why is there no mention of it in the many books, lore and the other games.
From a lore POV I think we need to settle with the plain old horse...even if I would like a war chariot so my imperial could yell from the top of his lungs "chargeeeee..." .
They weren't as big as the ones seen in Morrowind I saw them when you had to regather the herd in Stonefalls.
