unicorn in eso?

Post » Sun Feb 23, 2014 5:32 am

I remember playing oblivion and finding a unicorn guarded by minotaurs. So I am hoping we would be able to find one at a very rare and hard to find location/ quest. They were extreme rare in oblivion (I think there was only one) but since eso is thousands of years before, I am hoping there was a few more unicorns back then. So my question is would you like to own a unicorn by doing a rare and hard to find quest?

Not really since it won't be rare and hard to find within a month.

Yeah I get what you mean, unless there was some requirements you had to meet and/or the location of the unicorn would change every 2 weeks or so.

It should be hard to get. Like, I don't know, maybe if it is in the deeps of a stupidly long, hard and frustrating dungeon, and the dungeon is only available while you are doing 50++ content.

try looking at the exact same place as you saw it when you played oblivion, maybe it is there...

I think something like finding a unicorn would be better served as an achievement. I just don't think a typical person should be able to "own" a unicorn. Except of course Niel Patrick Harris.

A unicorn is just a horse with a horn on it, so you know they wouldn't bother making a new model for it. It would quickly become either a badge for high-levels, or so common as to be meaningless as a rare creature. I would rather see a more common but very different mount, like a guar.

But if they did have a unicorn, only female chars should be able to ride it. :D

Better yet, let the men ride it, but make it explicitly clear that the unicorn represents menarche. (That's your first period.)

Somethign like this should be extremely rare, like a unique spawn in the world that randomly spawns anywhere (no pre-set "spawn" locations, somewwhere outside a city n the country side all over hte map, have it spawn like once every month or something and whoever can find it/tame it gets it.

Nah, in the end it will be just treated as horse with a horn. Oblivion actully went with idea of making it unique and mystical and all that jazz . Unlike many other fantasy games that make it really overused and common and therefore not really interesting. Let's be honest if you can catch unicorn it stops being unicorn and becomes a horned horse.

Or, just have one unicorn, but in order to even see it (instanced) you'll have to be on a quest for Hircine... and you'll have to bring back it's horn to leave. Aww, poor Tom Cruise tears.

I'd be down with riding a unicorn, if it has a lot of particular stuff you have to get. Maybe have its location change to a different spot that's hard to reach every single time it's caught. And there's a day of delay after each time its caught and the next time it spawns in.

I rather enjoy long quests to obtain stuff like mounts. Cleaving through a grove of spriggans and minotaurs to the top of a mountain that a unicorn might inhabit would be pretty kick-ass.

Oooooh....Maybe they'll release an ESO Ultimate Edition. For a mere $99.99 digital/$119.99 retail you get everything form the Standard and Imperial editions plus a Unicorn mount, complete with instanced glade and Minotaur guardians.

With Unicorns being mystical and all that, as soon as you got close enough just to smell its dung, the animal will disappear.

Also why would a Unicorn be female only mount? This is not UO.

I do not want to see fantastical mounts like unicorns or dragons in ESO there are other MMO's with such things, so if you want that go and play those.

And anyway a unicorn will only let virgins ride them.

Yeah, the Retail Imperial Edition...Was referring to the Digital Imperial Edition, which is $79.99. Should have made that clear I guess, lol. There, fixed it for you. :)

Seriously, though, this is why I'm not fond of traditional fantasy monsters in my fantasy games. You either ignore their original meanings in real mythology (and then what's the point of using them at all?) or you acknowledge those meanings that are inevitably dated and at this point so familiar as to be boring. Another reason guar > unicorn.

If it would be anything like the one in Oblivion, then it'd be a dead one, as far as I'm concerned. I hated that stupid thing.
