The Credibility of Online Retailers

Post » Sun Feb 23, 2014 1:17 pm

Primary purpose of this thread: I've been looking online for a new winter coat ( I know there's not much left of it) to replace an aging, somewhat cheap leather coat that was given to me about 15 years ago. It's seen better days, and I'm in the market to replace it. http://www.stormtechusa.com/lnx-1-aviator-leather-club-jacket.html, unfortunately, I don't know anything about this retailer aside from I've read online. Given this is my credit card info I'll be giving out (assuming I do get it form these people) I want to make sure I'm not going to get ripped off...or worse.

Question: Has anyone had any dealings with this company? Are they a legit business? Can I trust them with my money? If not, does anybody have any suggestions for something similar from a reputable business that won't take me for a ride.

Most of the leather coats I've looked at aren't of the greatest quality leather, which is why I've been eying full grain leather instead. Everything I've seen indicates this is what for durability.

Seconary: I'd also like to hear your experiences with online retailers, both good and bad...as well as how you dealt with the aftermath of a bad deal.

Stormtech are the folks who make our company jackets. They are quite well made, and the quality is high. I would recommend them based on the 3 coats I have of theirs.

Would I buy directly from Stormtech? Probably not, as Amazon has the coat for $75 less, and you can find aviators and bombers by this company as low as $100.

Here are some other brands of this jacket

You might also look for this style of jacket at Burlington Coat Factory, they are someone you can do business with. I even got a coat from them that I did not like and the return process was easy.

Here is one from LL Bean, I just got a down parka from them that I can't wear unless it is below 0 degrees

Well, that certainly helps with Stormtech, but I have to admit a bit of hesitation when dealing with Amazon. I have ordered from them once before, but the price of my order then, is far lower than it will be this time.

Prime account will steal your soul.

Movie, buy it.

Movie, buy it

TV show, buy it

If its good, watchable, and I want to see it....well yeah. Though its my brothers account not mine, but he tends to buy movies on Prime all the time for us to watch.

Been ordering from Amazon for years now. Only problem I've ever had was a small crunch in the corner of a computer case I got. (Didn't bother trying to get it replaced, I was able to repair it myself.

So now I'm curious about one thing.According to the sizing chart, I meet the recommended size of medium in two out of three categories (chest and arm length) waist size says I should be in a large. How do their coats fit? Do they tend to run small, large or pretty true to the size chart?

This does kind of make sense, my current leather jacket is also a medium, but it's from a different maker.

Amazon is my primary online shopping usage, Ebay is just to risky and chances of getting ripped off are high and they don't have very good customer service, Amazon on the other hand will make sure the shipper either gives you what you ordered or makes them refund you. I've nearly lost profit one time on Amazon and they got my money back because the shipper didn't want to ship my order. The only other time I shop online is at Matty Collector.com I can buy MOTU (Masters of the Universe) Classic figures much cheaper there then I do on Amazon.
