Bard’s College (NPC guild) – Post Launch Content

Post » Sun Feb 23, 2014 9:04 am

In addition to adding the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood post-launch, it would be awesome if the developers added the Bard’s College as well. I would like to speculate what this guild could bring to ESO. Let’s get started. Players can join the Bard’s College regardless of their Alliance, as they have not taken sides in the Alliance War. Reputation with the Bard’s College is increased by improving one’s Bardic Knowledge and Bardic Music. To increase Bardic Knowledge, you must wander the land and learn stories from other NPC Bards. To increase Bardic Music, you must travel from place to place, singing songs in various Taverns scattered across Tamriel (innkeepers will reward you with gold after you perform). These quests are about storytelling, singing songs, and extensive traveling. Yes, they don’t call them traveling minstrels for nothing! In addition to adding many hours of new content, a new Bard Skill Line would be added and have access to abilities such as:

Feather Fall (Active): You fall more slowly to the ground.

Fear (Active): Target will disengage combat and attempt to runaway in fear.

Wind Wall (Active): Deflects arrows from you and your allies within range for X seconds.

Cone of Cold (Active): Creates an area of extreme cold, causing frost damage to target.

Summon Nature’s Ally (Active): Summons a natural creature (e.g. hawk, wolf). Toggle to activate.

Song of Travel (Passive): Gives you and your allies within range increased movement speed.

Song of Vitality (Passive): Gives you and your allies within range increased stamina regeneration.

Song of Insight (Passive): Gives you and your allies within range increased magicka regeneration.

Song of Rejuvenation (Passive): Gives you and your allies within range increased health regeneration.

Song of Heroism (Passive): Gives you and your allies within range increased armor.

Mirror Image (Ultimate): You create an illusionary version of yourself on the battlefield for X seconds.

Sleep (Ultimate): This spell causes a magical slumber to all enemies around you for X seconds.

While i agree with the bard guild, and the likes. I do not agree that a nord sporting a flute can fear me or dps me down with it or even summon some sort of creature. That just is extremely silly to me. I cant picture someone with a musical instrument wiping players out on the battlefield.

Those abilities do not at all sound like "Bard" abilities, they're just straight up magic. The passives are 1. boring and 2. too powerful for always on passives, they'd work better as actives.

Wonderful Post ... but no. The only thing that should be allowed EVER is the pure music aspect.

The last 3 TES i've played I have fought many of things .. including angry yelling undead .. but never have I been lulled by poetic words or fanciful tunes.

Please do not *cliche fantasy class* ESO.
