I Plea to ZOS for a Mod Compromise!

Post » Mon Feb 24, 2014 1:22 pm

My original thread was merged into another which is fine; however, the point I am addressing is distinctly different from this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1490509-add-ons-and-pvp-merged-similar-topics/ That thread is literally like American politics where you're either a radical liberal or an ultra-conservative; there's no middle ground. People there are too extreme and want either all mods to be banned, or all mods available with no smart shard matching for non-mod users. No one is willing to compromise, or even discuss a possible compromise.

My proposed compromise is to increase shard sorting intelligence by allowing players to check not only an RP/No-RP option, but a mods/no-mods option as well. This way mod-loving players like myself can keep our magnificent mods, and players who enjoy the mod-free play style can easily find and play with like-minded players.

This thread is solely for endorsing or not endorsing this compromise. If you want to do the red vs blue argument I can respect that, but please go to the thread linked above. The only exception is if you have a COMPROMISE that you would like to propose. That would be more than welcome.

Cheers to the moderates of this passionate community. :foodndrink:

I think as the balance of yes addons/no addons seems 60% yes, 40% no(rough estimate based on ealier poll) this seems very viable. If these numbers translate into the total player base it can work. 25% should be more then enough.

If the checkbox option doesn't affect Cyrodiil, there is really no point. If it does, sure.

AS to this topic, I never really got "it will segregate players".

The playerbase is already segregated. In thought. Why do you want to make people who don't want to play with certain groups of people, play with them?

Furthermore, if you say "just make a group"- alright, err, so you DO support people segregating the community, as long as they make their own group? Alright, so what exactly is the problem with a toggle for it? It just makes our lives easier.

I have a serious question I'm not trying to knock what you are trying to do at all. My question is though what would stop somebody from putting a check mark in the no mods option and still having mods enabled in the game since you install the addons before you even login? I don't think that Zos is ready to start rewriting a bunch of code to check everyones computers to see if they have mods installed or not. At least not this close to launch anyways.

I don't think that's the best solution. That would segregate the community.

I think ZOS should review all their addon idea.

Addons are nice to a certain point. Many UI addons are really nice, and a good way to arrange your HUD the way you like.

But if there isn't a combat log, or something like that, already in the game and the addon is collecting and displaying all this data that can't be obtained without using addons....

That's a real problem !

Are you trying to tell me that you want to force me to play with others if I don't want to because you're afraid of segregating the community?

Are you against Cyrodil because it segregates Pure PVE'ers from non-pure PvE'ers?

Why should people not have an option to not play with certain types of people? Every single one of us wouldn't want to be put into the same room with different types of people based simply on opinions, why should people have this option?

AFAIK, not only is there an add-ons option in the game, but add-ons are installed into a folder in the game. So add-ons can be controlled while the game is active, so the game can easily check if no mods are checked off to be turned on.

It's easy enough to check if any mods are checked.
