Does this stone also absorb my own spells?

Like Conjuration and Alteration. Cause I suddenly had a problem of summoning my Atronauchs when I switched. They just don't show up and I have to keep summoning summoning summoning, until finally they appear.

It absorbs your conjure spells in vanilla. The USKP fixes that if you're on PC but it still absorbs spells from staves.

So I guess my Necromage is going to have to go for a different stone. There really aren't very many stones for the mage users that I like. Guess it's the Lord Stone for me.

It svcks for us console users. My mages can never share the dream I have for them due to the stone. The Atronach Perk does the same thing.

Serpent stone? It's pretty much an added spell.

Where can I find it? And can I find it without using the stormcloak quest to get there?

From the wiki page linked below there is a link named "View on Map." It'll show you right where to go. You can go there anytime, without joining the civil war.

That stone has nothing to do with the Civil War aside from the "initiation" quest, you can go there anytime.
