So my follower decides that Barbas is an enemy...

I'm doing a daedric quest and I thought my follower might be useful so I bring her along. I also gave her a fireball staff and now her and barbas (NPC needed for quest) will not stop fighting, even at one point she turned her anger against me and I don't want to kill her considering its Lydia and I gave her all of this awesome gear and what not. Only that but I don't want to revert to an older save because I was able to buy a ring of recovery which grants me 100% Magicka regen. Is there a way I can stop this non sense without reverting and without killing her? Think the quest is called ,"A daedra's Best friend"

So far I have tried to revert a few times to an older save but no ring of recovery.

I have left the location and waited 24 hours and she wasn't hostile towards me but she was still fighting barbas.

I even have a save where they are still fighting back at the beginning of the dungeon/cave and I am able to continue the quest but it will have to be solo.

I just want to know if there is a way I can win without having to:

1. Kill Lydia

2. revert the save and lose the ring,

3. Continue the quest Solo

The only way I can do that is if I revert, not only that but I can't drop her while she's in combat.. I'm on Ps3 so I can't do all that fancy stuff.

first off reload to an earlier save and take that fireball staff from her. I bet she is hitting Barbas and the two are going at it.

This. She'll return to Dragonsreach. Or, if you have the home in Whiterun, she will go there.

Yep. The Fireball staff/spell creates an explosion on impact with its target so it has an area of effect which can do damage to friends and allies who are close to the enemy it's being aimed at. Even friendly fire will do damage and will eventually cause your allies to start attacking each other or you since they consider it an assault and the unmodded AI is not able to tell them otherwise. Best not to give anything with an area of effect to a follower if you have more than one follower fighting for you - especially if one of them is gonna get up close and personal with your enemies in melee combat (or in Barbas' case, using teeth and claws).

Yeah, it's one of those things that you tend to learn the hard way at the most inopportune moment. At least on PC you can mod it away for the most part but on console there's nothing you can do, and when the game sticks you with an extra follower for a quest it can really get irritating.

Although IME sometimes if you have shouts you can "Fus" the offenders and it might knock some sense into them - usually the first "assault" by the player doesn't provoke them enough to attack you, it typically takes two or three and sometimes one dose of Thu'um is enough to "reset" their attitudes. It's worked for me a few times when followers started fighting over something I'd dropped accidentally, so it's worth a try.
