The perfect nordviking build

Post » Tue Feb 25, 2014 5:56 pm

I want to know how you think the perfect nord/viking character should be like. Which weapon/armor, one or two handed, light vs heavy armor, how to use the perks, and so on.

Personally I'm thinking of making this type of character. He's going to be a Stormcloak supporter, and a member of The Companions.

Every tips/inputs will be very much appreciated here.

Personally, I think we should strive to see our characters as individuals, not as members of a "race."

As I said in your other thread on this topic, Nords are as diverse as Italians or Russians or Swedes or any other race in real life. Some Nords are Stormcloaks, some are not. Some wear heavy armor, some do not. I don't think there is any such thing as a "perfect Nord character" myself.

As far as I'm concerned half the fun of choosing a race is going against racial stereotypes. I love playing Breton warriors and Orc mages.

Be creative. That's my advice.

Nord

Light or heavy armor. Your call but I am a fan of light armor.

iron or steel weapons only

You call on sword/shield or two handed weapons.

No magic

scars and warpaint.

Skills would be smithing

Archery wouldn't hurt either.

I can see your point in going against racial stereotypes, as I've already done that with some of my previous characters. And of course I know that every individual is unique. However, the reason I made this topic, is that I want to get some opinions on how you think the "typical" viking was. Clearly, vikings from the viking age had their way of dressing, fighting, etc. We're talking about a whole culture here, and even though there always will be individual differences, there will always be some cultural characteristics.

I'm actually Norwegian myself, and find viking history very interesting.

Besides, I'm not making two threads about the same topic. The reason I made this topic is that my previous one eventually came off topic. I just wanted to separate them.

I'm not a fan of TV shows but I love both of those. My equipment idea is similar to what Ragnar rocks http://www.esquire.com/cm/esquire/images/km/esq-viking-xlg-21314781.jpg. Those shields are like a mix of the guard shields and an iron shield, he's wearing something similar to a roughspun tunic (as close as vanilla gear gets) and using an iron waraxe.

If you want an armored build then copy http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121001004421/elderscrolls/images/2/20/GunmarDG.png, hair and all ;)

Because I just watched this movie, http://youtu.be/LJZIBx1fpUU?t=28s. 2h Steel axe or sword, fur, beard, more fur and even more beard. Ulfric's clothes fit, Nordic Carved or just plain old fur with fur. Don't forget http://www.hotflick.net/flicks/2004_King_Arthur/004KAR_Stellan_Skarsgard_006.jpg.
