[PvP] How long to VRank10 and what to do when being there?

Post » Tue Feb 25, 2014 11:25 pm

Title, what more is there to do - when you are rank 10? And how long does it take you to get there?

I personally love the idea of PvP-ranks. What do you do with them in ESO? Buy special gear? Gain additional PvP-skills?

Can someone shine light on this please? Thanks

I was rank 5 at the end of last beta, with little effort, so I doubt it would take more than a month.

After that you can always strive to be emperor or just play for fun.

I do think they will be adding more ranks and expand upon the pvp.

You can always buy gear and stuff for your alts with the alliance points.

I don't know if the rank system has any other function than show off.

This.

Not having to rank up anymore gives you the freedom to do things for the heck of it, and who cares if your score isnt as high as it used to be.

I seriously doubt many, if any, of my characters make it too far after reaching the 50 cap. I might play them through the + and ++ content but I will more than likely just...

... start a new character.

Rank is required for higher end PvP gear. There was a vid floating around that showed a vendor with epic gear requiring ranks 1-10 and each piece of rank 10 gear was like 650,000 alliance points...

So we are then actually playing PvP for fun. I guess many dont care for the emperor

Mmmh, will that be sufficient for the Endgame PvP content? I mean yes fun above all else... but no killcount.. no showing off.. why PvP again? When rank10 is easily get. Okay for fun... but that leads then to going PvP once in a while and not all the time. So the large maps will be empty somewhat quick?

What was it in DAoC? I did not play it, was participating in another MMO at that time

Every piece of gear also seems to be random, so you could end up really having to put an effort towards obtaining the pieces.

Ah nvm, the better gear seems not to be random.

On Daoc i remember top rank players that kept playing their main character for years because... i dont know honestly i guess it was a mix of fun and reputation.

I played the same character for ages but everytime i reached the cap it was already increased so i woudlnt know

If the PvP is fun and the campaigns are somewhat persistant, if comradery and rivalry are strong enough, the fun itself is enough to keep you playing for a veeery long time on the same character.

Not true. Sroll up to my previous post. But effort will still be required, as the gear sets cost a TON of alliance points as well as ranks.

Yeah exactly but what reputation when you reach these goals super fast and there is - like other than getting Emperor - no real reward?

It wont be super fast, no matter how it was in beta, and they will raise the cap eventually.

Anyway reputation comes from playing fair and fighting hard, not so much from your rank.

Of course playing fair and fighting hard incidentally gets you a good rank.

I am afraid the Emperor is going to be perceived as the nerdiest nerd on TESO :P

One of us is confused, but I'm not sure which.

VR ranks are NOT PvP ranks. PvP has Alliance ranks. You get VR ranks by doing 50+ and 50++ content, VR dungeons, Adventure zones, and PVP. Alliance Ranks are gained from getting alliance points strictly from PvP.

I think everyone who knows the answer to that question is still under NDA.

I'm not positive, but it's safe to assume that the PvP gear will require just alliance ranks. There is an Icon next to the rank requirement. I don't think we have caught a glimpse of the veteran gear yet. Would love to :)

I sure hope there is an option to buy some of this veteran gear with gold instead of alliance points. I can't imagine this game would cripple PvE players in such a manner, not that PvE players ever been anything but an afterthought compared to PvP players.

I am pretty sure they arent going to "cripple" anyone.

There will be top tier gear that comes from pve activities too.

Maybe it wont be exactly the same gear but it will be on the same level.
