That this game, set in Tamriel's coldest province, has the most skimpy armours? Virtually all armours light armours except fur and stormcloak, and some of the higher-levelled ones are bare-legged, quite a few, such as hide, are mostly bare-chested as well... Kinda seems a bit weird... Almost as Skyrim's armours would be more fitting for Cyrodiil. and vice versa...

Not sure what skimpy armors you mean. Besides that, Nords can withstand the cold.

try playing a female character and compare armors to the males...

Or Savior's hide, forsworn, fur, hide, scaled (a bit), ancient nord (look at Aleya), etc

I was really disappointed with the armour in Skyrim. In Oblivion I actually felt safe behind Fur or Leather armour, but in Skyrim.....

There were a couple of armors that I thought Skyrim did better at but another couple that were better in previous games. I like Skyrim's variant of Dwemer and Glass armor but the Daedric armor doesn't give a Daedric feel to it.

I think the Daedric armour in Skyrim is fine, although I prefer it in past games. I've never used Glass armour, so I wouldn't know about that. And I really dislike Dwemer armour, unless I'm playing a paladin.

And what's the deal with the 'skirts' on many of the light arnours such as hide, studded, leather, scaled? Dunno what style it is supposed to represent, if any, but it sure doesn't look like any norse armour I've seen... The hide and studded armours look especially odd, with the 'skirts' and then the upper body being just straps and a big round piece of leather...

look at the old imperial and ancient leather/hide armors

Pants were not too common style, the kilt/skirt style was since it allowed for more mobility

Yeah, everyone would freeze to death if you aren't wearing something like skaal armor up north. It's a game tho... Just wear skaal armor when you go north if it bothers you.
