Hello everyone. I've recently reinstalled Oblivion after a three year gap.. I used to play a heavily modified game and I'm in the process of slowly rebuilding my load order.
i'm a little surprised to see how much activity there still is on the modding scene. i've been reading posts here and looking on the Nexus to see what's been updated and what's new, but wonder what I've missed.
I'm not looking to stray too far from the basic game's look and feel, so I'm not really interested in stripper clothing or over the top weaponry and armour. Nor, at the moment am I interested in getting too many retextures. So I'm mostly interested in gameplay improvements, new settlements and new quest mods.
My game will be based on OOO and I'm pleased to see it's finally got to 1.35. Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul looks interesting, and apparantly can sit comfortably on top of OOO. Can anyone tell me how much of OOO is left after being overwritten by MOO?
Oblivion Character Overhaul looks like a new 'essential' mod.
For quests, I see Knights of the Nine Revalation is new, and gets good reviews. I will also put in Arthmoor's A Brotherhood Renewed, which came out before I went away, but I never got round to playing it.
It also looks as though Arthmoor has released some more villages, so they'll go in.
I also see that Kvatch Rebuilt is being worked on again, and has been expanded, so that will go in.
Better Cties continues to be updated, but this time round i'm going with Open Cities Reborn.
I'm aware of Nehrim, it came out around the time I stopped playing, I've not played it, but i think it's a total conversion so not relevant to this load order.
i'm not sure whether or not to put Elseweyr in yet. I think it never got properly finished.
I'm not sure what to do about a levelling mod. I never bothered previously because in my view OOO took away most of the problems with the vanilla levelling curve. i'm a bit concerned that with an OOO/MOO install the vaniilla problems may come back. Can anyone advise on the best levelling mod for a 2014 install. Are any of them still being maintained?
I've read about Sneaking Detection Recalibrated and Snu's Dungeons, but haven't made up my mind about them yet.
Weather, all Natural may go in. I'll probably skip Immersive Interiors because I don't think it ever got finished, and it is (arguably) incompatable with OCR.
For magic I may go with LAMe. Anything new ibn this area. To be honest I'm reasonably happy with the vanilla magic system.
So I'm thinking iof running the following main mods-
All vanilla content. All unofficial patches, SM Plugin Refurbish, OOO, MOO, Oblivion Character Overhaul, Enhanced Economy, Tamriel Travellers, Realistic Fatigue, Basic Primary Needs, Open Cities Reborn, Cobl. Arthmoor's Villages, See You Sleep, Clocks of Cyrodiil. Quest mods as above. Dark Darn UI.
At some point i'll probably add male/female body mods. Are HGEC and Robert's Male Body still the best supported?
As regards OBSE, I'll have OSR, Elys Universal silent Voice, Blockhead, Fastexit 2, Elys Uncapper.
Tools- WryeBash, BOSS, Tes4edit. Tes4LODgen, OBMM (for some of my old mods I've saved in OMOD format)
What have I missed? In particular are then any high quality quest mods that have appeared in the last few years. They don't have to be voiced.
Thanks. S'lyder.
