Where to Begin?

I started years ago with xb360 skyrim. I've since then moved on to PC gaming a lot more and have skyrim with all the DLC. I immediately turned everything up to legendary difficulty for a good challenge before I get into mods. I tend to play a stealth based character with twin swords and a bow. I've only played a few hours and have only gotten as far as starting the Thieves Guild quests. I'm not quite sure where the most effective place to start would be. Any suggestions?

What type of character have you created?

I made a wood elf. I use two swords with lots of sneaking. I have primarily used DB and TG as a huge resource to build stats and level quickly. But as everything is much harder in legendary then I had played years ago + all the new DLC content. I have no idea where the best place to start would be.

I'd suggest the companions in Whiterun, they could certainly help you with your archery and swordsmanship.

What do you want to start? Exploring? Questing? Role Playing?

Most of what I'll be doing this go round is exploring. I want to see all the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC content. I'm trying to steer away from my typical DB and TG only character. I'll be looking into using illusion magic with everything I do and try to be well rounded instead of just stealth+dagger=easywin.
