ESO Racials.

Post » Fri Feb 28, 2014 9:36 am

Is it just me, or are the racial bonuses in this game kinda unfair?

Most MMO's have racials but ESO's really take the fun out of character creation.

Let's say I want to play a Dunmer sorcerer, (which I do) there is no way a top guild would take me over an Altmer or Breton.

What if someone wants to play a Nord sorcerer they have 0 abilities which are useful, which mind you I understand why for lore reasons but it really makes the game unfair for some.

What are your thoughts on this situation, does it bug you at all?

People that I've discussed this with say that at level cap racial differences are balanced by armor modifications to hit the soft-caps. I have no personal experience with this though.

Doesn't bother me at all, they don't mean anything.

I think people are just fretting over idle concerns now.

The racials are so small and can so easily be made up for in so many ways I really don't consider it an issue whatsoever.

I personally have no interest in playing with a bunch of calculator obsessed munchkins who worry about such things. My sorcerer will be a redguard because I feel like it.

They seem to be in a good place for now, in my opinion.

I have absolutely no issue with any of them. Be it race or racial abilities. It's just part of the norm for TES.

Altmer and Breton are going to be the better magi. But that doesn't mean that your perked out / maxed out Altmer caster will not get owned by a Nord caster.

That 6% extra damage with fire/cold/shock the High elf is getting, does it apply to all his attacks? One of his damage trees is lightning, its something to get 6% more damage....

In that case tell the Imperial Wizard where to stick his white pillow case wearing guild.

Interesting side-note, in looking up ranks for the KKK I learned that they must be very much into Dungeons and Dragons, that rank structure reads like it belongs in a DnD rulebook!

I dont think thats true at all. If they were a top guild they would care more about your personal skills than what race you are. Theoretically you could say one race is superior, but there's alot more to the game than racial assists. It would be foolish to judge your candidates on such a narrow gauge.

I don't see what the issue is.

If your concern is simply finding people to play with, why are you concerned about pleasing the jerks out there? There are players who A.) experience end-game content and B.) don't give a [censored] about min/max as long as you can hold your own. Ignore the jerks and play with the others.

If your concern is to be a part of the best of the best, then sorry, sacrifices need to be made. A lot of people in those guilds don't have a choice over what they play, including class, gear, skills, etc. They are merely a tool, a part of a bigger machine. It is overkill and only so your guild can get world firsts or whatever.

I can't help wholeheartedly agree. I looked at something real quick....It's crazy Grand Dragon they have a rank called Grand Dragon and another called Grand Wizard who has hydras that help him. It's kinda hilarious.

It doesn't bug me at all. Anyway, why use a dunmer to present the case? I remember the dunmer racial passive boost spell power fire damage right? So they are kinda the superior casting race in the EP.

Hopefully the stats you gain from racials will be balanced by the soft caps that are in place
But I am very concerned about racials like stealthy forcing pvp nightblades into khajiit/bosmer, or dunmer fire resist forcing vampires to go dunmer.
