First Khajiit

Post » Sat Mar 01, 2014 6:47 pm

So after playing Skyrim since Jan '12 I finally decided to make my first Khajiit character. Just finished up my war priest and previous mage so I went back to the stereotypical thief/assassin with this guy. I know its not really a big deal but I'm really digging this guy.

Sneak

Pickpocket

Lockpicking

Archery

One-Handed

Light Armor

Alchemy

Smithing (only to make better bows)

Havent quite thought of a backstory yet. So far I've escaped Helgen. Gonna make my way to Riften and start the Thieves guild. I think he'll stay pretty local honing his sneak, lockpicking and PP skills. Then once he gets out into the world graduate to full blown assassin.

Thoughts?

well a great thief does make a great assassin. A thief breaks into places, takes an item and leaves without being caught. You can apply that same skill set to killing someone. My thief Kaileena would have made the best assassin I ever created if that sort of thing was in her nature. Its not and she destroyed the brotherhood for interfering with her life.

But I like your build idea. If you were going for more of a brawler I was going to suggest unarmed for a bit. My khajiit Jhed'ahk hasn't lifted a sword in for ever. unarmed claw perk for khajiit plus heavy armor unarmed perk pack a real punch :D

Use those claws while you can. They're really fun at early levels but soon become obsolete.

I love this build - out of the many I've tried, the thief/assassin is by far my most successful one. Sneak everywhere, whether you really need to or not at the time - it'll develop that sneak skill to the sort of level where you are all but invisible. Weapon-wise, I favour the bow (tip: go to Riverwood, befriend Faendal and milk him for free training up to level 50) and treat my assassin as a sniper type killer. You'll probably find your armour won't level too high, you'll generally be killing everything before you have a chance to take damage.

Have fun! I've played it to death and so need to try something new ('son of Skyrim' type next for me, I think) ... but IMO it is the most fun play style.

But you can do the sneaky archer with any race. And the conventional combo is dagger (one-handed), as you get the sneak perk bonus on that too. One warning: don't take the final archery perk to paralyse your target, as it will all too often prevent those one-shot kills.

The combo of bow for ranged and claws for close isn't very well supported by the skill trees. It could make an interesting challenge because of that.

Yeah Ive done the sneaky archer plenty of times before and have done the assassin tons before. Its by far my favorite playstyle. Only difference is I'm a cat this time and I've never really embraced the thievery as well. I'll definately give the unarmed a go in the early levels as right now I'm only level 2.

I might make him evil too.

If you've never played as a thief. What better introduction than a Khajiit. ;)

If you want to make him evil and still be immersed. My advice would be to go on uesp and see which Daedric Princes contradict each other. So you don't end up worshiping Molag Bal and Boethiah. That is if you don't already know about that kind of stuff.

If you're playing on PC might I suggest the "Khajiit Speak" mod? It basically changes all the dialogue options in the game to reflect Khajiit speech patterns. It's glorious.

It is fun. Be sure to work your tail off for the TG, someday you'll be the boss  Personally I think the TG armor fits my Khajiit's rather well, more so the TG master armor. Throw on the Black guard hood ( I think that's what it's called, from the DB dlc ), vampire boots and it's an insta win in my books :D

Evil wise I tend to stick to the DB contracts and from time to time a personal grudge. But my Khajiit assassin/thief will not kill unless defending oneself OR if there's a contract involved for the most part. That being said there have been a couple situations where Tharkun ( my Khajiit ) gives into his darker side and ends the life of the person making a rather nasty remark about Khajiit's or for calling him " cat "....

The one thing that may be considered evil that he does is that he will kill any guard that identifies him as a Dark brotherhood member or TG member. Can't let that kind of information spread around, bad for business.
