There is no meleearcher class

Post » Sun Mar 02, 2014 5:03 am

In truth I am far more concerned about No warrior class than I am about any of the bow stuff. Mainly due to the reason that it does not go against lore for Rogues to use magic.

It does go against Nord lore though and that where my problem lies. There is no class for Nords, and Nords are one of the 3 main races... Historically.

Edit: bow issues are that all of the low lvl class skills just about are in melee range. I was only using the magic issue because it properly shows the problem for a Nord that shuns magic and how it would effect his ability to play.

For the flavor of the class? Think of weapons as a class also, your not making yourself weaker just picking weapon skills.

Any player using only weapon skills would gimp the player.

Any player using only class skills would gimp the player.

Any player using only guild skills would gimp the player.

This game is not designed for you to pick exactly one line (class, racial, weapon, whatever), and be successful. And before you want to argue that you can play that way in any other Elder Scrolls game, think again. You can't just level archery in Skyrim and be successful- you needed other accompanying traits, possibly sneak, armor rating, alchemy, enchanting, whatever.

You need to create a well balanced character. And this world is absolutely filled with magic- you're fighting Daedra and demons and giant spiders. So don't complain that all skills are magic based in a world that is infused with magic.

Is this thread serious? I mean you must have never seen a game that uses weapon/armor xp to tailor make a character to your preferences. It definitely is a syste,m that is for customization. You say there are 4 magic classes? You must be a fool to think that because something uses mana to use it. A mage style class is one who creates balls of fire to damage. But using a spear to draw enemies to you doesnt mean its a mage type, its just a warrior styled maguic cause its a melee enchanted manuever.

Stop being pansies and stuck on things. People here have told you what you need to do to go for what you want. If you dont like it get out of beta so people who will appreciate the game can get in.

Nuff Said.

You should not see 'Magicka' as merely magic, Magicka actually is your mental force in general. In every thing a human does there is a mental aspect to it, this in my view is represented by the concept of 'Magicka'. so actually this health - stamina - magicka triangle concept of the elder scrolls series is quite an intelligent approach in my view.

it has a lot in common with ayurvedic and classical chinese medical principles, these try to categorize existential phenomena in 3 or 5 simple metaphoric agents, and the interactions among these agents represent the complex phenomena of reality in a intuitive way...

Oh, you mean the same Nords that use a magical language given to them by magical creatures?

Historically, Nords are distrustful of magic and magic users, but they make potions, enchant items, and use magic weapons every day.

No, Strife is ranged (this entire tree is ranged), crystal shard is ranged, mage's fury is ranged, sun fire is ranged.

There are plenty of low level abilities that are ranged that can work with the bow, they just may not be in the trees you want.

So templar burning light skills are long range dots. 28 yards and snares the targets. I am rolling a templar archer. I sneak up on a target, launch my first arrow and cast my ranged snare spell immediately. then use my poisen arrow skill. target dies before it reaches me.

I prefer support classes so templars stuff worked out well for me any role i did looking through the talent calculators.

sorcerer could also work for the above with dark magic, encase anyone.

for melee people, just go to it from the approach that it's ranged determines if its for melee or ranged. my best friend is running a sorcerer tank. using all the close range storm calling abilities + the one hand taunt stab and heavy armor.

Its actually better that not everything is just stamina or just magicka costs. because everything costs SO much u will oom out in no time if u only had stam stuff. mix and match ur rotation and u will be fine.

so in the name of offering customization......

we are all forced to be hybrids to survive.

not much of a choice IMO.

I complained about this before, I never use magicka in the single player games, I always play a stealth/rogue/assassin type in MMORPGs and I hate that my class has to use magic to be viable, kind of svcks and you can't really spec the way you want too if you want everything to be viable in combat otherwise you will miss out and your damage will be crap. I would have just chose Health/Stamina for my night blade class if it was optional but it really isn't. I like the game enough to just deal with it though....so I'll live with it, just a little disappointed.

I don't know, I've always hated magic/mana type classes and I don't play them, I guess this will be the game I'm forced to play one.

Tell me what class skill does not require the use of magic?

P.S. Class skills are under the "class" section.

Well, to be fair to the devs, every time I've seen a nightblade in an ES game it's been a rogue that mixed in magic with stealth. Doesn't address the "I don't wanna use magika concern, but it is consistent.

I wouldn't mind if the magicka was buffs.

however, if I am weilding a weapon, i do not need to summon a glowy spear. and such.

Well, my Templar uses sword and board and heavy armor. IMy only class skill is the instant cast heal. That seems to be doing just fine by me.

Look at the dragon knight. It uses lots of buffs. Draconic power and Earthen heart have 2 skills each that are just straight up buffs. The sorcerer has several skills that are just straight up buffs.

The point of m y post is that this game is made for you to mix and m atch things at your discretion. You dont HAVE to use magic if you dont want to. You dont have to use weapon skills if you dont want to as well. It's up to how you want to play since no one is forcing you. But to come right out and say that it overall svcks. Don't knock it until you try it. ANd If you tried it... you can honestly sit there and say the magic spells aren't beneficial in some situations where you would otherwise get wrecked/wipe?

I had a lot of fun leveling my "hunter" from 1 - VR1.

Breton Sorcerer, bow, medium armor, summoned Clannfear and Winged Twilight.

I use the first two bow skills and then on my second bar I use a resto staff with the first two resto staff skills. The summoned pets have to stay on both bars (so they end up taking up 4 slots, sadly). My ultimate is the Storm Atronach.

The 3rd skill is whatever other damage or utility skill I want to level up, play around with. I've found using Poison Arrow plus the first skill in Storm Calling is a deadly combination.

We had the choice, on my class in oblivion and skyrim, I only used dual daggers or a bow. Never used magic, never needed to either. In ESO we don't have this choice, it's required.
