Isn't that what all fanfiction has always been?
A chance for people to explore and expand the Lore in their own way.

So does that mean the fanfic about Dark Raven, the half-high elf, half-khajitt, half-nord, half-breton vampire/wereraven Arch mage, who is also the secret daughter of a Daedric Prince is canon?

One could argue that the entirety of the Star Wars expanded universe is just fan fiction.

So essentially Kirkbride just made Elder Scrolls expanded universe.

It does NOT do away with Canon, but creates canon tiers.
Now there is Bethesda Game Studios Canon, the main series of games.
Bethesda Softworks Canon, ESO and the novels.
Imperial Library Canon, written works of present and past BGS employees(including Michael Kirkbride) not officially endorsed by Bethesda.
Fan Canon(aka C0DA canon), which is universe we concoct in our own heads.

Personally, I like MKs works, and I consider them to be a part of my TES universe. Including the 16th Dimensional Mathematic rounds, time travelling cyborgs, and the imperial province of secundas.
But if I want to talk lore with anyone, it's in Bethesda Softworks and BGS canon only, I might include selected works from the Imperial Library.

If you want it to be in your vision of Tamriel, sure. Who's to say that your vision isnt as good as someone elses. Other people might accept your vision..... most wont though....

So we are the ones who create the infinite possibilities reflected in shadows.

On another note, does this mean that people can stop arguing about the civil war for the time being, if everyone is now right?

Since when has something as inconvenient as 'everyone is right' stopped people from proving the other is wrong?
