How is this game ready for release in one month?

Post » Mon Mar 03, 2014 8:55 am

There are so many broken quests just between levels 1-10 that it's insane. I know it's beta, but this is supposed to be a STRESS TEST which means content is usually good to go and they're testing server load. The game is supposed to be released in one month but there are so many broken quests just in the newb area.

Care to explain this wizardry?

This game is in the worst shape of any game this close to launch that I have beta tested in the last 10 years.

Ive tried many mmo beta, both small and huge from Tabula Rasa to SWTOR...but ESO's beta is by far the worst, laggy, buggy and glitchy ive ever participated in...and 1 month from launch with these basic error, its looking dire.

Yea, I mean the game is kinda fun but it's not really ready for launch. Usually the last month or so is just the polish phase, not broken content.

I agree, the game has been barely playable for me. I might have to wait until the game flops and becomes free-to-play in three months.

Fairies :D

Seriously though, we're one build behind at the moment. And I suspect there will be another two or more builds before release. Sooo, burn the discs and send them out now. Patch all the clients in time for early access and viola! You have yourself a launch!

You answered your own question weekend testing isn't the real beta.

I really hope they pull a rabbit out of their hat and fix all the bugs, but hope is a fragile thing.

As far as comparing it to other games goes, this beta has been a lot smoother and less buggy than SWTOR was - at least for me.

The beta we played is an old patch.

The PTS players are playing the build without all those bugs and alot of fixes/changes.

Why they did this ? Idk

All they get from that is bad impressions from many players.

You guys realize the beta you are playing did not get updated with the latest repairs? Only PTS has those.

We are STRESS beta testers, mainly there to test server lag and stuff like that.

We are playing on and old build, I think it's the same build as the last beta.

The new patch only came out last week, I'm guessing they weren't sure it'd be stable enough for a test of this size? Dunno, just my guess.

I completely agree! ZoS needs to take notes on how real AAA MMO development works from games like Final Fantasy XIV version 1.0

This version is the same version they've had for a few beta tests. From what I understand, they can't update without wiping the characters so they aren't. I'm sure they want people to test the higher leveled stuff.

We're not here to play, just stress the servers.

When the game launches, then we'll see the updated, patched bug removal version.

Sure. Publishers keep pushing games out the gate earlier and earlier, with recent trends even releasing games in alpha state. Yes, releasing them. As in you pay money to play a game still in alpha phase.

So to answer your question, it is quite likely the game won't be completely polished by day 1 release. Welcome to the last decade of gaming. To avoid the drama, just wait a month or two for it to settle. But of course that won't happen, even all the haters will still be logging in.

ESO's beta is no worse shape than pretty much all MMO betas. The only MMO I ever played during it's beta and it was more polished was Rift.

TERA doesn't count, when the western beta was going on the game was alread 1 year old in Korea.

Just to add a little balance to the discussion. I feel this beta to be pretty stable. Certainly NOT "the worst MMO ever at this stage of its development". Yes there are quest bugs but you know what? That's part of our job, to /bug these things. If you can't be bothered to help the development and just want a head start on the masses that will invade next month I suggest you buy the pre-order and log on the week before the retail purchasers are allowed in. Maybe the rest of us will have helped the devs to get the thing ready by then. The other thing to bear in mind is that very few games (in fact none that spring to my mind) are perfect at launch.

And certainly not at beta!
