Game causing nVidia card to crash

Post » Mon Mar 03, 2014 5:49 pm

first ill list my specs:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz

4 GB Ram

I seem to be okay with the game set to minimal or low settings, but if it is set to medium it causes the game to freeze up within minutes and my video card to crash and have to recover. My drivers are updated and i would assume my computer should be able to handle the game at these settings no problem. My fiancee has a samsung satellite with a basic HD graphics that seems to play the game at medium settings with no issues at 30+ fps. Any other game my computer outpreforms her laptop but for some reason not ESO, my computer seems to have a terribly hard time to run it. Anyone know any fixes to this issue or have similar problems?

Probably overheating.

Clean every fan.

I forgot to clean my computer and it started overheating. I looked at my vcard and realized

it was too dirty and caked on. I just had to buy a new one.

I got a similar problem with the GTX 760 on a dual monitor: The game would sometimes freeze, and both screens' display became black twice and I could do nothing but hard reboot the computer.

I just bought this graphic card and set it in the computer three days ago, I clean the fans on this occasion so I don't think overheating is the problem. Plus, I didn't notice any change in the card's fans behavior during the black screens display.

It doesn't seem to occur with other games (I tried Skyrim and Assassin's creed IV).

Config:

AMD Phenom II X4 830

ELSA NVIDIA GTX 760

4GB ram

I tried to invert my two screens and to plug the main one on the HDMI port (the other is on DVI) and the issue somehow occurs less frequently (the black screens still happened once, but no freeze anymore). Although I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or an actual solution ^^'.
