Kill Stealing Revisited

Post » Mon Mar 03, 2014 11:12 pm

I am a full healer and attack everything I see, no matter if it's fighting with an other player. When I heal an other player I also steal a bit of his exp. There is no kill stealing in ESO, just people fighting for the same cause. If you don't want other people help you, you better watch the random healer as well. He might heal you and thus get half of your exp.

I agree with the OP here. People might say that they're 'helping' but it's the equivalent of 15 Jedi taking down one Jawa... unnecessary overkill. By kill stealing you may not be stealing XP or loot but you are stealing fun.

I really really hope that when the game goes live, the amount of players in a single instance is cut down to at least a quarter but I know that I'm going to be disappointed. Not a single public dungeon in game exists that you can't walk though and complete it by following a mob and hitting a boss once.

Heroic, it is not :(

Can't understand why the etiquette in MMO's can't be the same as in real life, if I walk down the street and see someone being attacked, I'm not going to stand there and watch their health meter run down or ask them if they need help, I'll be wading in to help them out.

There is no such thing in modern MMO's as kill stealing anyway, nowadays it's kill sharing as everyone gets some xp and if you need the mob for a quest you still get a credit for it.

Personally, I'm not going to lose any sleep if someone helps me out or if I help them out.

One with points in tanking and healing skills are not going to be able to put out the damage capacity that say, a nb specalized in bows ans sneak attacks can.

Mine took over half a creatures hp in one hit. Any healer/tank class that hit that wouldnt get crap for it.

This isnt eq. Thank god. Rogue group needing to be trusted not to ninja all the raid loot was stupid.

Concur. So you lose a few XP; at least your character is still alive.

... and I'll lose no sleep over losing XP if my character doesn't get whacked and I have to start from the nearest restore point.

From your avatar you look to be from eq2 so you familiar with that and eq's mechanics. Just an example, i went templar resto staff/duels/bow. I could solo 3 to 4 mobs at once with no issues.. I Am not talking about half hitting a mob which you can do from stealth as a nb, i am saying that all builds have a potential to dps which even with my points all over the place my dps is very good and i grouped with a DK that was a tank build and she solo'd well. So saying because they are a healer or a tank means low dps is an antiquated way of thinking when you're looking at ESO.

The two aren't mutually exclusive, though. If I see someone fighting a bunch of mobs, and he seems to be holding his own, I might stick around to watch, but I won't interfere. If he seems to be in trouble, though, I'll do what I can, whether it's with CCs, heals, or pulling a mob or two off of him.

I wonder, is there a hotkeyed "Help" emote in this game? I've known a few that had it, but I haven't gone looking for it here.

It's not about kill stealing, but about terribly easy PvE. It's so easy that i'm happy if i can fight 3-4 NPCs then others come and ruin my glorious fight. Double the amount of enemies or make them twice as strong if nothing else then give them twice the health.

Im quite familiar with it.

You were the one that said ehomerver did the most damage should get everything. Healers and tanks can yes do damage(I almost exclusively tank or heal) but when that nb decides to shoot st things I pull and do over half the damage so I get jack out pf it, you think theyre going to stay tanks or healers?

And thats eq2, my avatar. My dirge, specifically. Thete I can lock people out of my combat entirely.

Oh please ... the xp you get for a mob are almost unimportant for leveling ... does it really matter if you get 170 or 80?

Furthermore, normal mobs are most of the time so easy that there really is no gratification soloing them (ok, that might change at higher levels, I only got up to 12.

This Dragonknight chain-pull is rude, no question about this.

Edit: I also think it's rude to just whack a mob once and let other players do the killing, thereby leeching xp without doing any "work".

But opening fire on a mob that is engaged with a player and helping kill it - I don't see that as a problem.

yes, that dragon night chain is really stupid. i dont know how you could love it unless you are a nord or a tank. i prefer dunmer and do not really like nords tbh.

How? After seeing the chain going out i always had to wait 15-20 seconds for a pull and even then the player instantly warped back to his location while i was getting arrow hits and died. This happened too many times.

They already upped it n pts and its apparently insane later.

Rather not force grouping for quest mobs thanks.

Oh and more guar to prod in kragenmoor thanks. There were like 2 spawns and 5 people after them..

I don't like it when a player pulls a mob from me either, but I know I'm not going to get other players to abide by my sense of morals on this one since it's more a rude factor than anything else. I did enjoy it immensely though when I played a class that could pull the mob right back! lol

It depends for me, if someone is one on one I usually leave them. If they're low on health I will help out.

If there are 3 or more I will probably jump in. I left a few people and they've been killed, goes both ways.
