This is not a 100% comprehensive list of my thoughts, or even meant to be the most comprehensible thoughts of the good and bad of ESO.
I purposely did not compare ESO to any of its contemporary video game kinds, competition etc. I simply don't care for the comparisons to other media. I based my thoughts simply on what data and information i received and experienced from playing ESO and 30+ years of gaming experiences.
These are my thoughts, in no particular order of importance.
Decent game, not worth the price.
Progressive world.
MMO mold, meh, sigh, bleh, changes channel.
No mini map, replaces by map/quest scroll bar, impressive innovation kudos and thanks, but still not enough back treading to actual gameplay because the environment design is still remedial
smoothed controls, nice
too easy, able to loot quest items without any friction or challenge, this will kill game
leveling incongruous with quests
too much exposition and poor writing
great intro, please do not add any video, less is more here.
improved combat concepts, but behavior is too easy or confusing
graphics fidelity decent
character generator pretty good, especially impressed with ability to create an actually artistically satisfying lizard man as i percieved it.
too much collectable /resellable trash, dull. Makes for odd alterior game play.
way, way, WAY too little basic physics, cause and effect
story ideas were decent, writing was very poor, remedial frankly. Unfortunately remedial writing is top notch for mmogs.
too much realism not enough "show me"
price is too high, but i understand the very good reasoning behind the choice
excellent item disparity per encounter
odd items from creatures
needed voice chat i felt was constantly searching for the button.
questing is too dull, not enough individual interest, why do i care?
character equipment is interesting at beginning but the demonstartive appearance in the character generator of a high evel character is fairly diappointing, should be reversed, why have scarred armor as a fresh spirit and then have emaculate over the top stage wear in the end? Ridiculous.
Music isn't bad, but again it's not supportive of the present nor is the lore and environment.
Character actions seem appropriate and well timed, but character "glowing" weapons defeat the imagination when trying to stealth.
Pointless extra skills for combat, what purpose in having 5 skills (plus character movement) that defeat an opponent if you only need 1 or 2 at most to win an encounter?
Advancement of class was very good design, but erratic skill acquisition after quest completion seemed odd.
Crafting is nicely conceived but the most basic start point of making crafting components is very difficult to figure out at first without reading the errata, but again who reads errata in a game where speed is the primary concern?
Which brings me to my final issue that I suspect all this pomp and circumstance to offer a more immersive experience is completely misplaced in a game primarily bent around power acquisition.
I made it to level 6 before I became increasingly bored and wanted a better vehicle for entertainment.
