If an Add-On adds more Quick Slots, is that cheating?

Post » Tue Mar 04, 2014 5:27 pm

As I leveled and got new skills, I thought to myself "Man I sure wish I had a place to put these!" Now, I realize, this is exactly what the game makers intended. They wanted us to prioritize our skills to only use certain ones. That being said, we are playing this MMO on a computer with a keyboard with like Eleventy-Billion keys! The whole point in playing PC games vs Console games is that we LIKE using all the keys. We want to assign everything a short cut key and macro everything. So, that being said, if someone were to program an Add-On that allowed you to have maybe two or three different bars of Quick Slot Hot Keys, would that be considered cheating? Now, before you answer, realize that you can only cast one spell at a time. You can only use one skill move at a time. Having more slots won't mean you can do more simultaneously, it only means you have more options as to how you combine and use your skills. What do you think?

I would say that this pushes addons being a necessity, as it is a HUGE game advantage over someone else to have more slots available than someone who doesn't have the addon.

Unfair IMO

Thats not even a question, the game is limited to those given for a reason, adding more would be simple cheating.

Also there is no "fair" way to do that, since ZOS only allows a certain type of info to be "caught" by add-ons, they wouldn't hand this over easily, but there will be hacks for it though, it's easy to make a script change your ability from the spellbook window to your hotbar....

Not so much as its cheating but certainly a hack as it goes against the design of the game. (btw you couldn't make a legit mod that does that because the API won't allow it)

They want us to make builds or decks of skills. Yes we get access to lots of skills but again all that goes into the deck building element of the game.

Pressure Points I
Increases Critical Strike rating by 1.5% for each Assassination ability slotted.
Yes, i'd say adding more quickslots would definitely be considered cheating :D

As much as I would love more options.....I still think it's an unfair advantage.

I wouldn't worry about it, if there is a hack that increases slots I'm sure the game code is limited by it.

Still if a hack is out there for this you could put 5 abilities in the normal slots and use the hacked slots for the rest of the main skills, well assuming it's hackable. But something tells me the ability of slots etc are all tied to have only the ones listed, anything outside that might give an error when trying to use.

Yea i don't think its possible to add more quickslots, i was just posting a good reason why it would be cheating if someone somehow managed to do it.

So it's a hack that breaks the rules of the game to give you an advantage but it's not a cheat? What exactly do you consider cheating, i'm aware you didn't support his suggestion but seriously, what?

@OP:

And ofcourse it would be unfair, like you said yourself the game is designed around creating decks with a limited number of skills, having an extra deck would just break the design.

Was the US cheating when they dropped nuclear warheads on Japan to force an early end to the war?

Improvise, adapt, and overcome.

But in all seriousness, if an add-on provides a marked advantage in the game not afforded to other subscribers, then yes - it's cheating.

Well this vote will be a landslide victory.

Considering Lord of the Rings has about 60 slots and I'd destroy any opponent that has only 6.
