So what will ESO have to keep people playing?

Post » Tue Mar 04, 2014 10:36 am

I preordered the game today...imperial edition...woot.

Anyway, I am a bit curious about the endgame stuff. I have heard mixed things....from "there is less end game than GW2" to "there are dungeons and adventure zones to keep people coming back for more". Personally as long as there is something to do (PVE) I'm good...does not need to be massive raids...just a reason to log in.

In all honesty I have not kept up to date with it all and just decided to go ahead and buy it after this last weekends beta.

Thanks for any info....

Even in the closed beta I'm unsure if they have access to the full end game pve, so far i've seen only pvp video's.

Also ZOS promissed up to a 4-6 week content update, let's see if they deliver.

I'm curious about end-game content as well. Will there be full fledged raiding?

I despise end game "content" in mmorpgs because it's faux content. All it does is let players repeat the same stuff over and over ad nauseum, throwing them a few shinies so that they can repeat it all all over again. When the time comes in mmorpgs for my character to step onto the treadmill of raiding, that's when I stop playing and move on. I enjoyed "Groundhog Day", I just don't want to put my characters through it.

Well at some point you're going to get bored....

If not for the treadmill there would be nothing to do.

Try to outswim the slaughterfish, that should keep you occupied.

Why worry about that today. Play the game, when you get to the endgame see for yourself whether it is interesting for you, if not then quit.

Agreed. I wish developers would use more random content (random dungeon entrances and layout, random boss abilities, random loot). Granted, if you play enough you will see the repetition, but at least its not the same exact dance every time!

The Adventure Zone is a pretty decent size zone. Shoddy Cast mentioned it was the zone called Deshaan http://www.elderscrollsguides.com/maps/deshaan/

4 or 12 man options with boss encounters and dungeons. You can do a lot with the zone and with only a portion of the map open there could a lot more like this. Looks like raiding zones instead of raiding dungeons, I like how this gives more freedom to roam and explore

For end game PVP content I would like to see an occasional massive horde of uber Imperial mobs that get sent out and just wreck a bunch of forts on all sides. If you are caught with your pants down you will lose more of your forts and farms etc. than another faction. Small bands of npcs that raid the smaller locations would be a nice touch as well.

I did not play PVP so if this stuff is already in there then just ignore this post.

It would hate to see it go down the path that other MMOs did where they just add extra levels to the same gear. That is just silly an stupid. Have actual events spice up endgame content, not just gear.

Having the ability to customize the appearance of your fort and add cosmetic and even useful stuff like alchemy labs, baths, toilets etc would be nice. They could be expensive and required lots of resources to be gathered by the players and you would have to rebuild them if your fort is taken over.

They promised their spin on raids. I'm a big fan of spins, they mix up the MMO market (question is: if said spin is any good).

It is also mentioned that PvP is part of the end game, which makes LOADS of sense. Eventually players will run out of gear to acquire, and apart from rolling alts, the only logical next step is for the player themselves to level up.

With all of Tamriel open, or at least most of it, I'd think that it would keep players coming back for a while. I would also expect a few surprises as well.

What usually keeps me playing MMORPGS is variety in the character classes. I'm not satisfied until I've played pretty much every more or less viable permutation of every character class. I'm not really sure that would apply here as the character classes don't really seem that different from another. Another thing is I like to have every possible crafter in a game, as long as it doesn't take years of my life to accomplish it. I'm not interested in PvP or raiding. Variety is what does it for me.

I think end game is extremely important especially when you're paying $15 a month....otherwise subs will drop like Paris Hilton's panties.

I hope they have soloable grinds and dailies that has good rewards like mounts , pets , and titles . I also hope It is not forced so people who hates grinds and dailies don't have to do them .

From what I am hearing there will be more PVE endgame than most other MMOS. Once you finish your alliance's side you can do the enemy alliances's zones as 50+ content that is much harder. there are a lot of group dungeons that have multiple story lines to run threw. This month they said they will release Adventure Zone information (PVE raids) and the world is there is a lot of them and stuff to do.

PVP wise they have the same system as Darkage of Camelot. A PVP system that kept people playing for years and continueing to build their characters. A PVP system that has purpose and gives you the sense that you are building and leveling a character so you can protect your lands and fight for your alliance. This PVP system also effects your PVE and what happnes in PVP is very important to you and at times you will get the call to arms where PVP will pull you from PVE because of the actions of the enemy alliance at that time.

Added Content. they have alreaded hinted of added a Darkness Falls style dungeon. This was the first thing added to Darkage of Camelot. It was a massive PVE / PVP dungeon you fought for control of in PVP. Once a new side gained control you had to clear the enemies out and then it becaume a PVE prize while you owned it. This is hinted as what the Imperial City could be in the center of the Cyrodiil map

Personally I do not want 'end-game stuff'. What I wish for are regular expansions to the game that keep it worthwhile to continue playing. The problem (in my mind) with End Game content is that running the same dungeons over and over again has not purpose to me. To me, once a boss is defeated and dead, that boss is deafeated and dead for good. I deserted other MMO's for that very reason, and I still play older MMO's because there is (after ten years) heaps and tons of content. ESO is set a 1000 years before the ES single player games. Point being; there are a 1000 years of potential content to be explored; if the developers want it. I expect (at minimum) one major expansion every year to the game; or alternatively, one minor expansion every three or four months.

Well new expansions would be kind of like "end game stuff". It's a reason to keep playing isn't it?
