I'm quite new to the world of Oblivion, and I'm not yet very good at swordfighting, spell-casting, or anything- I'm just being a tourist, and I'm getting to know my way around the place, and enjoying the scenery for now. I was wondering, though, if anyone's thought up any sort of mod for air transportation in the game? An ornithopter, a dirigible, a Barsoomian-style "airship", or at least a friendly pterodactyl would be very useful for getting around, and it would be nice to see things from the air. I've heard that there might be at least a flying carpet somewhere- does anybody know anything about flying in the Oblivion game?

There have been at least some mods that have attempted this. But with the way the game is designed, it doesn't work all that well. For instance, if you were out and about in the wilderness and decided to fly into Anvil, all you see was a bunch of empty space where the settlement is supposed to be. Cities have their own world separate spaces that you can't enter by flying.
