I was planning on making maybe 2 guilds but I'm not sure whether you can make more than one. I had some cool ideas going through my mind and that leads me to asking this. If I could get an answer that would be great.

Just one guild. Nothing more. If you try making an other, with an alt, it says you are already in a guild.
Alt doesn't matter, since guild membership is account-wide.
But you can belong to five guilds, so I would be surprised if you couldn't MAKE five. Wonder if there's a way to do it that you missed? If you belong to multiple guilds, for any action that involves a guild (using a guild bank, using the roster etc), you have to select your active guild before you do it. I'll take a look next beta
However, if there IS a limit on how many you can create, just get a friend to make the second guild, then appoint you GM
Although I have no idea how a person could RUN more than one guild effectively. Being a GM even of a small guild isn't a trivial thing.
Each player can join up to 5 guilds, but a single player can only lead one guild at a time.
@Srikandi, I understand that being a GM of more than a single guild would be tough but I have potential. Also, you are a genius for having the idea of having a friend to make one then making you the GM, just pure GENIUS!
You can only lead ONE. You can be in five guilds, but you may only make and lead one guild.
@Ithril, really? Man that sure puts a damper on my mood. I wanted to make a dedicated crafting guild but have another guild too. Oh well...
The better question is can you limit people to only joining your guild as their main guild with a toggle button in guild preferences.
No, I will not trust people to self report themselves for joining two main guilds. IMHO, you should be able to join 1 main guild and a few trade or crafting guilds. If a GM wants to enforce that, he should be able to do so in game.
That's great if you want to be a dictator.
Tropico V - Guild Edition
No he (or she) shouldn't The only thing it's reasonable to demand from players is that they meet whatever obligations your guild imposes.
If you want loyalty, it's your job to inspire it. You can't require it.
@Srikandi, that's very true. Also, I don't know why anyone would want to make there guild an invite-only sort of deal because I believe the more, the merrier. But there will probably be a invite-only option or something because not everyone thinks like me.
Eh? Well, if you're trying to create a guild where people share playstyle and/or gameplay goals, then IMO some kind of fully mutual selection process is in order, where you check them out and they check you out.
If there's no filter at all, then you just wind up with a cross-section of the playerbase, and lose any kind of distinct identity. Might as well stick to zone chat
Not that I'd want to rule that out... people have different tastes. For me, I want a guild where we're all on the same page.
