Starting a DW Nord warrior...

Post » Wed Mar 05, 2014 10:22 am

Essentially one handed, heavy armor, and enchanting. Smithing I'd like to stay at arcane smithing, and going the no magic route with the exception of starting spells, so healings ok. He just reached level 11, unlocked skyforge steel which is what I want to stay with throughout, smithing and enchanting as I go. I'm also grabbing the Nordic Carved Armor when it's available and want to do the same, love the look.

For weapons I'm going axe/sword, axe main, sword offhand. No real questions here, I just wanted to share the plan as it stands now, and will take any advice as well. This is my first melee character, my other being a conjuring-illusionist-throat-cutting-dual casting fireball spammer. Running head long into battle is more than a little liberating.

Im not trying to bash yoir build but with enchanting included, and restoration wouldn't that make your character a battlemage?

Make sure to cook!

Vegetable soup, beef stew and venison stew allow unending power attacks.

I guess sure, why not? Never played TES before so I'm ignorant to builds or their specifics.

You're going to feel pretty untouchable in a few levels, I think. DW + heavy armor can be a lot of fun, though I imagine it can get OP, especially if you do a lot of enchanting.

My only advice: learn to love the off-hand forward power attack, which is almost always guaranteed to stagger your opponent (provided you have something other than a dagger in the off hand). As another forumite mentioned when I was just getting into DW, the off-hand forward power attack is your 'block'. Move forward a bit to tempt the foe to try a power attack against you, which you should step back and avoid. Then plunge in with a forward power attack with your offhand weapon, which should stagger them and open them up for a standing dual power attack.

Or just wade in and start slashing, since you've got the armor to shrug off some punishment. :)

Watch out for Serana and Her Ice Spikes in the back.

Keep the Offhand Weapon Unenchanted for the Elemental Fury Shout, if You are going to use it.
