Dragons, Vampires, Assassins, and headcanon. And questions.

Soon, I will be getting a new rig. A very powerful rig since I do a lot of video editing, website development, and some 3d modeling. Of course, I'll be playing Skyrim and Morrowind modded until they are indistinguishable from life. Now, I have logged in a collective 1500+ hours into both of these games combined but I have not touched them in months because life. That's changing now as my busy season is drawing to a close.

Now, while I love Morrowind and Skyrim equally, I found my headlore/canon running much more freely in Skyrim. So, for my PC, a 26 (human)year-old, Tony Stark-like Dunmer vampire lord of House Telvanni working as the Arch-Mage of Winterhold with strong ties and influence in both the Dark Brotherhood (might switch it over to the Morag Tong) and Theives Guild. A self-made industrialist/inventor whose best friend is a robot from the 10th era that lives on time. His name is Progenitor, the robot that is. The Dunmer is called Laren Chailar. He is of course, Dragonborn. He strongly believes in the freedom of the individual and all that jazz. He is well aware that he is a Shezzarine (I subscribe to the LDB Shezzarine theory) and takes full advantage of that in dealing with the daedric princes. Like most people, Dawnguard was released, I thought Serana was a pretty cool character and I have since shipped the two and there's no going back on that now. Now, I think I may write my own c0da/fanfiction/both, centered around the 3 and all the neat metaphysical aspects of the lore, as well as a few mashups of things from other games for entertainment value and because I just want to.

It will be in 3 parts. The first will be set in the year 4E 212 - 227 And will be written in overarching storyarchs. Two for the DLC's and a bunch for my own things. The second will be set in the same setting as MK's c0da. The 3rd will be where my own setting is introduced and will be very different from the Aurbis we know and love. But still familiar. So, now, on to my questions.

What would be a good way to seamlessly weave something anologous to the Assassin Order of Assassin's Creed into the world of Tamriel without just saying they were there or using the DB too much? I bring this up because the creed and ideals of the Assassins rings very true to Laren but I can't imagine him killing for the Dark Brotherhood, though he's not a saint either, and I don't know enough about the Morag Tong.

Can it be possible to have two people achieve CHIM together? Vivec and Tiber seem just fine in c0da so I assume yes. Yes, Laren and Serana (I have it planned out how that's going to work) will achieve CHIM before Landfall. Taking it further, can 3 Amaranth exist and dream the same dream together? If not, that's fine. I think I have a good idea of how to write an alternative to the creation of a new universe.

I have more questions but I hate long posts. Please, ask me anything if I am not providing enough detail on these things and let's get a good discussion going. It would really help my story in terms of quality.

I'm just going to say it straight up because I'm kind of a [censored] about this sort of thing; that character sounds Marty-Sue as HELL.

Alright, now, throw around some ideas. How can I make him interesting?

Though before that, maybe I should post sort of a full character profile? I didn't list everything for the sake of not letting the post get really, really long.

Read that character description back to yourself and then imagine it's not your character you're describing. How would you feel? The main problem I'm seeing is that your character is too many things at once. He's a Vampire Lord, he's Telvanni, Dragonborn, he's a Shezzarine and knows it (and uses that to [censored] with alien gods), he's the Archmage, he's got a time-traveling best friend from the tenth era, and he and his lover are apparently going to achieve CHIM simultaneously and become the new Amaranth and create his own new universe.

Does he have any flaws? Why is he so amazing? Why is he such a special snowflake?

Alright, good. Yes, he does do too many things right off the bat. Well, let's strip his character to what he is basically: a problem solver. He prefers brains over brawn. He does need his flaws and that's part of the reason that I started this thread. I want to improve my character. Now, I still want him to be that "special snowflake" but still have enough flaws to steer his character away from Mary-Sue territory.

Dragonborn, vampire (though not from the get-go), and CHIM are pivtol to the narrative so those aren't going anywhere. He is a scholar and I did actually enjoy the CoW questline the first couple times I did it, so I would probably keep him as Arch-Mage.

Telvanni is out the window and I was skeptical at first about writing that in. To hell with the TG and DB, too, I'm seeing how those are really dragging him into some uninteresting territory but I also don't want him to be a goody two-shoes. Not evil either. Lawful or Chaotic neutral, maybe. I recently played around with the idea of a character being aware that they are a Shezzarine and I suppose I rushed into that, so that's gone too. He still is, since I support the LDB is Shezzarine theory, but he will never know it.

The robot is also going to stay since it needs him. It is sort of guiding events to a favorable outcome though it has no control over what happens, only a bit of influence. The robot is the reason that Laren is so special.

http://www.cerberusdailynews.com/valiant/forum/board/thread/?t=251 is a guide written by someone on another forum I frequent that is a good guide to creating a character. Something else that I should note: the D&D alignment system is I'll suited to the morally-grey TES universe.

I really wish that I had known about that guide earlier. Thanks for that! I'll try a profile for him here:

Arrogant in his abilities and often overestimating himself, he finds himself in trouble quite frequently, though he can handle it well most of the time. Besides that, he loves to tinker with old dwermer gadgets and experiment with all kinds of magic and always has. Sotha Sil is his personal hero and eventually, he too began to create and build. That passion became a business and that business took off very well, so much so, that people have come to call him, The Innovator. Unfortunately, his money is helping to keep a battle with drugs and addiction raging well after he thought that part of his life was over. Though that makes him prone to bouts of rage, he's a great person, just struggling with personal issues and no one seems to actually care as long as the new ComGem is out in the next two years. He still cares for those people and their right to liberty, however, and does everything in his power to preserve that liberty.

Better? Please critique.

Take what you have and turn the volume down from eleven and down to, like...six.
