Interrupting cast . . . on self.

Post » Thu Mar 06, 2014 11:36 am

This is not a major issue but I know there were a handful of times when I wanted to stop a cast after initiated. I love the ability to cast while moving and do not want to change that. But is there a way to interrupt my own cast?

For example, a mob respawns next to my the same time I start cast on ranged mob.

I've used google with no luck.

Thanks

Ha, I'm glad you mention that. An event can make me want to change the skill I want to use.

Not to mention that being able to stop a cast is part of tactical gameplay in PvP.

I don't think there's a stopcasting function but I did notice you can chain cast stuff by 'queue-ing' actions.

Does anyone know if Escape works? Ive always used that as a last resort in other games. I'm pretty sure Dodgerolling works though its not entirely practical all the time.

Animation / casting locks are fine, it means you have to be a bit more careful about your key presses if no 'escape' exists.

If that's the case then I can live with it. I'm just curious If I have the option to stop casting.

Well, that's what I was saying, I think it's intentional in this case if we don't have an 'escape' option -- I don't think there is one. Have you tried using block to interrupt?

i can see where this would be usefull in pvp.

im hiding somewhere and i see another player and begin my attack spell. all of a sudden i instantly see he has his entire guild following him coming up over the hill. some 400 players racing toward him.

what i was using to stop my casting and attacks was just to quickly tapp the foward movement key, it took me out of the attack and just slightly moved me forward without casting the spell or attack i had planned. but you have to do it quickly lol.

This was not my experience, movement forward, left, right or backwards did not stop casting, even jumping. I actually like that but still curious. I have not tried block or dodge, I will have to wait until next beta.

Worst is that you can't dodge wen you are in a middle of an animation.Makes action combat hmmmm less action combat.

An example was with flurry.I was in the middle of of the 6 hits wen the mob started to cast a skill i tried to dodge but i couldn't i had to wait for the animation of flurry to end.

On a similar note: Is there a way to release from a bow power shot without firing, similar to what you can do in Skyrim? I.e., you have the bow pulled back and are waiting for a shot that you then decide not to take. How can you exit the draw without firing (if you can)?

I kind of like that, it means you have to make a decision on when you want to try to use those channelled or cast-time abilities.

You can interrupt spell or archery casting by turning the character around 180 degrees away from the target before the cast is completed. Not the most elegant way to stopcast but it worked for me several times when I had second thoughts about taking on a group in pve or players in pvp while stealthed.

Maybe is all about personal preference but i like more the quick reactions and not so much ok you made your move now its my turn. You make decisions anyway by selecting how you start a fight what skill i must do first (or combo) etc.And don't forget you don't always fight one foe, maybe sometimes an other mob(or player) comes on you and you want to get out fast and not just wait an animation to end.

Anyway as i said before maybe it is just me.
