Fallout 3 DLC $$$

Post » Wed May 05, 2010 3:40 am

this may have been covered on the forums already but i couldnt find a thread on it, and it may just serve more as venting more then anything else. Im just a bit perturbed at the fact that decent & faithful Fallout fans that get there games early when they come out play them...then DLC expansion packs must be paid for!! Only for a game of the year edition to be released along with all 5 expansion packs all for 50$ just think its a little messed up of developers to do that...
faithful fallout fan... game= 60$ + 5 expansion packs(50$)= 110$
players that buy the game late and wait for goty edition w/ all expansion packs = 60$

once again just stating the obvious and venting a bit!

Eh, no matter how much our fanboyism makes use want to think Fallout is a little world in our TV box. It's just a game made by companies. and companies only want to appease the masses than the hardcoe fans. If more fans want DLC than depth to its content. They'll make it, and the mindless hordes pay whatever number the screen says.

Such is business, C'est la vie

Look at it like this you bought the game at release and got (hopefully) hundreds of hours for your money. Myself I am over 300hrs into fallout 3 now divide that by $110 = $0.36 a hr. Where are you going to find that kind of enterainment for $0.36 per hr?

That's just how it goes. Games, like everything else (except DLCs apparently), get cheaper when they get older. I bought Oblivion and Morrowind GOTYs cheaper than what people propably paid for their expansion when they were released :D

Don't buy New Vegas, wait for the inevitable GOTY edition to be released and you'll save money. But the question is can you really wait for a year or more longer to save an unknown amount of money?

The original game was well worth $60, and IMO the DLCs were probably worth $10, considering. The GOTY pack is meant to be something that sells for years to come - so the money they're losing (Or rather, not gaining) from not charging $10 for the DLCs will be made up over a longer period of time. They aren't screwing over us, they're making sure their product keeps selling for a long time.

The game was definitely worth $50-60, the DLCs... I'm not sure they were worth a full $10, especially since you had to jump through Microsoft's LIVE hoops in order to get it. I'd put the value of the DLCs as closer to $6.

If the game is overpriced, I'll typically wait a year and buy the GOTY edition or pick it up for cheap later.

If it makes you feel any better I got the GOTY Edition for 39.99. :celebration:

To be honest, if I knew the game was this awesome, I'd gladly of paid 60.00 at time of release as well as 10.00 for an expansion. However, going into the store 2 weeks ago, if this game was still full price, I'd of passed it up. So the price drop is to still appeal to gamers far after it's "current" date.

Personally I bought the lunchbox collectors edition the day FO3 came out (About $90 if I remember correctly) + the 5 DLCs on the Xbox360. Then when GOTY came out on the PC I picked it up. So thats about $190 and it was worth every penny IMO.

Yeah, I have all the DLC for Fallout 3 and it cost me about 40 quid in total. Plus the game, for 20 quid, that's 60 quid. I don't mind though. 100 total hours, but I'm new to fallout and only got it this month =P If its anything like my 1700+ hours into oblivion its well worth it. Plus its only business after all these company's could not give a damn how much money they make.
