Do you have an original boxed copy or is it a digital download?

Regarding the boxed copy, if it was designed to run on Windows XP then it should, but I'm not sure. If it's from GoG then yes.

If you purchase the PC version of Thief II: The Metal Age from gog.com it should run fine on Windows 8.

I do not own it on Steam so I do not know about the Steam version at all. I also do not have the physical boxed version so I do not know about the physical boxed version at all as well.

It will be a boxed copy. They're going for 1 penny on amazon.

If it's the physical version you'll have to track down the fan-made compatibility patches.
