The gearing system please explain!

I've never played an ES game before so this will be my first :P I have some questions about the gearing system (pve/pvp)

When you pvp you get awarded alliance points, can these points be used to buy pvp based gear? Basically in GW2 I had the issue of not feeling like I was getting rewarded for my pvp. What I'm trying to say is do we get two sets of gear types? Pvp gear which has low stats against mobs but high stats against players, and Pve gear which has high stats against mobs but low stats against players? In GW2 for example the pve gear was better for pvp than the actual pvp stat gear which is just pathetic.

Also just another question, can you socket enchantment stones? Stat increase stones? Infuse your weapon ect so get even more stat increase?

I just hope they have two seperate gear types, pvp and pve. The pvp gear is best for pvp, and the pve gear is best for pve. Just how it should be. Also what about scrolls? Food? Potions?

I've tried finding a database which all this info but no such luck. It would be nice if you could buy attack speed, movement speed, magic resist, hp, stamina potions ect all that good stuff. Any ideas?

Yes points for pvp gear

I don't know what pvp gear has as I never traded any points.

Food and potions are covered by provisioner and alchemy.

The pvp gear is just ordinary gear, practically the same that you craft yourself.

I definately say NO to 2 gear sets. PvP gear has ruined alot of games PvP sections.

The gear you get for pvp is the same gear you get for pve, stats-wise. They may make it look different, but there is no "pvp gear" or "pve gear".

Will there be special PvP gear with special attributes?

There will be gear players can acquire in PvP, but it will not be markedly different from that they can find outside of Cyrodiil. In The Elder Scrolls Online, we have made sure that the gear aquired in Cyrodiil does not have special PvP attributes, as we want players to go back and forth between the Alliance War and the rest of Tamriel very easily.

It has been tough, but we have been very conscientious about wanting all the gear to have the same stats in both areas.

There are not two sets of gear. I.e., there is no PvP stat, like Resilience in WoW. There are many different stats on gear, and yes, you can get high end gear with alliance points, but it's not necessarily "good against players and bad against mobs". I like it that way. You can gear up in either PvP or PvE (or a mixture of both) and be viable in both PvP AND PvE.

There are enchantment glyphs made by enchanters and besides stats, gear has something called "traits". Check ESO head for more info.

Alliance points can be used to buy siege equipment to help you take keeps, and also to buy repairs etc for that siege equipment.

You can also buy gear, as already stated by other posters which is no different than PVE gear (usually green gear - uncommon).

Your weapon level & power is determine at the crafting stage and atm there is no way to improve the dps via upgrading an existing weapon.

You can however add enchantments to your gear, which you will have to use soul shards to keep some of the enchantments on weapons working, as it will drain after some use. But while leveling, this is often unnecessary as you will change your gear every couple of levels regardlesss

Gear is universal...its the same gear used for both PVE & PVP (as posted). You can use food/drink and crafted potions to improve stats or provide certain effects.

there are no scrolls. If they start adding speed scrolls etc like in AION, then the whole dynamic changes & become meta-gaming nonsense by effectively changing how ranged players have to play (range become redundant).

There are soft-caps in the game, meaning that once you reach a certain number in a stat, it starts providing diminishing returns. You can still apply buffs/enchants etc...but they will only provide you a percentage of what you would normally add to your stat.
