i respectfully disagree with you on this OP this is really close to a deal breaker for me and is 1 of my main sticking points from pre ordering and maybe not buying the game at all
1 i really dont want to see constant WTS or WTB chat spam which is what is gonna happen especially when people start devoting to leveling there trade craft and it being a mega server i can only imagine what this is gonna be like.its not to bad with a AH without 1 i imagine its gonna be very very bad
2 i love trade skills i was really looking forward to this aspect of the game until i started seeing posts about how there is no server wide ah and the bag space limitations bag space and bank space was sort of adressed
3 one of my favorite parts of MMOS to me is playing the economy of the game and trying to gold cap my acct really got into this while playing wow and swtor and a cpl other MMOs its kind of like it own little mini game
AoW economy was completely controlled by the players weapons, potions, armor, food everything i cant think of anything i bought from npcs accept the tools i needed for my trade skills or maybe a quest item but they even had a AH type interface so you didnt have to cruise thru a entire cities trading stalls (especially ChengDu).........stall by stall .......which is kind of sounds like this is what we are gonna be forced into here at best..i loved that aspect of wushu wow i made alot of ding wish that game had a withdrawl button for all that unbound ding =/
i dont mind something diferent or revolutionary or change in a game genre but as far as trade goes this seems like a real step backwards and a annoying time sink now instead of spending 5-10 mins looking at a ah for stuff i need or want to sell and continuing on with my gameplay im gonna be relegated to cruising thru a city looking for a guilds ah or shop for stuff to buy and wont be able to sell unless i wanna spam chat with my wares or join a big enough trade guild.
trade chat is cool but very ineffective with keeping the WTS and WTB spam out of the other chat channels
Chat spam will never be eliminated entirely, but I think a well designed system could potentially minimize it. As the current system stands, I fear that zone chat will often be rendered entirely unreadable, at least in cities, by a huge volume of trade spam given the lack of accessible and efficient alternatives.
I completely understand people wanting a more social and involved trading system that brings back nostalgic feelings of MMOs played in decades past. I just don't feel like chat spam does much of anything the enhance the social atmosphere or provide a meaningful social experience, and the guild store system seems like a somewhat poorly thought out alternative.
So just how I think it will work for me - I plan to be basically in two guilds:
- base standard with approximately 20-30 people online in play time
- mega PvP guild that is only solution if any guild considers to keep the keep permanently, so thay have to have maximum 300 or 500 active players (again - active! so players need to login almost daily).
You may ask why PvP guild will allow me to do this and it is because: I and all active players from my base guild will apply to join big PvP guild, they should not refuse self managed well oprganized troop of 30 people helping them to defend the keep.
Who knows may be this big PvP guild will consist of 10 smaller guilds.
Was thinking of a similar situation for an 'alliance' guild. One guild made up of only guild leaders and senior officers from each PvP guild for one alliance. Then if something needs to happen, each of those officers recruits their individual guilds on individual tasks.
Hydra leadership, instead of single-head leadership.
While I can empathize with you, my reality has been as a suburbanite. I grew up a few miles away from the fist mall ever built and now am only a few miles from the largest. Supermarkets and big box stores are all I've ever shopped. I have been known to pay extra just because it's convenient. I have also been known to boycott businesses because their model includes some kind of inconvenience.
In this case I could live with the inconvenience of the items I'm looking for being spread out across the map. So long as I have some convenient way to find a wide selection of items and have a large customer base looking at mine.
