Does Bethesda Ever Look At Their Forums?

Post » Sat Mar 08, 2014 6:47 am

I was wondering because I was so inspired by the story of 2K integrating Bioshock Infinite fan-art into the game as DLC and was wondering if Bethesda has ever done the same thing?

Really cool fan service, if they do.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the emails they sent were automated responses. However, the one I received from John Peterson seemed too human-like to be automated. I dunno.

I certainly hope not. There are thousands of people here, all who know how to do their jobs better :lmao:

But seriously, BGS does look at the popular mods and use their ideas in their following games.

Nope, the forums is the run down bar where us unwashed masses argue, drink and get in fist fights as sleazy people sell drugs while they look down on us from their ivory tower betting on our antics for sport.

You know, that sounds like a quote from Dishonored. I hope they look at this. They can use that.

Members from Bethesda do check in here here and there. But it's mostly the forum of the game that recently came out. For example when Skyrim came out couple of guys from Bethesda checked in here and there and were actually helping out and giving suggestions to people who were making topics about their need of scripting help. I also heard that Archery in Skyrim is based a lot on some marksman overhaul mod for Oblivion.

I've never seen them doing anything like what Final Fantasy, Tekken or Diablo guys did though, where they included actual designs from their fans, like a costume in FF XIII-2 that was made based on a design that a fan made. Lightning Returns and Diablo 3 actually had some related contests on Deviant Art recently, iirc the deal was that in case of Lightning Returns they will/have used fan-made costumes again, and in case of Diablo they used monster arts for actual mobs that'll apear in expansion for Diablo 3.

That reminds me, back when Fallout 3 was in development they had a perk contest and the winning perk got into the game.

But yeah, it's rare that fan stuff gets into a game, but they have shown a large interest in the modding community and draw inspiration from there for their next game.

That would be a step up from the marriage mechanics in Skyrim.

Long Long ago, in a Forum far far away...

Todd Howard himself used to comment back in the Morrowind and Pre-Oblivion days on occasion.
