I have the points up the tree on the left side, for steel smithing, elven smithing, and advanced armor. I have taken these 3 perks, my current smithing level is 52. My level in game is 28. When I go to the forge however, the option to make plate and scaled armor isnt showing up. Is this some sort of bug? Or do you have be a certain player level to be able to craft these armors? I can provide screenshots if needed.

I believe they are under 'steel' rather than in a separate section, have you checked there? (I dunno why they don't have a section of their own, though.)

They're listed under Steel.
