Agro when solo vs a group

In Banished Cells I could go in alone and draw mobs with a bow one at a time. When I tried this with a group it failed. Any explanation as to why?

Why were you trying to solo banished cells?

Because the grouping mechanics in the beta svcks. And if not for the strength of the bosses I would have completed as I had no trouble clearing solo. I have been doing much of my testing solo and talking to my friends (also in beta) via Ventrilo. We occasionally grouped together and grouping seems to work a little better when you just invite friends to a group vs using the LFM, but it is still buggy. However when I was ready to run Banished Cells my friends were not available.

When I did Banished Cells in a group, one of the people I grouped with commented that they ran it with "Ranger" who could pull the mobs one at a time. From that I think it must be possible to do this I just want to know how. Was it in the build or because the group wouldn't give me enough space to pull them one at a time? Or something else?

On a side note I am looking for a guild but not on this thread so PM me if you can help. I like PVE and PVP. My Ventrilo buddies while small have our own crafting circle so I should be maxing Smithing lines rather rapidly I hope. Probably will be in Aldmeri Dominion but am not 100% sold on that.

One trick that you can use is line of sight. If you hide behind a corner and pull a monster only that monster should run to you. I don't know if this is intended but yeah.

That would lead me to believe it was the group who wouldn't get back out of line of sight that makes sense. But when solo I could pull mobs without breaking LOS on the other mobs unless distance is enough to break LOS.
